Karl Hobbs has been let go of his duties as coach of GW. http://dc.sbnation.com/george-washington-colonials/2011/4/25/2132361/karl-hobbs-george-washington-basketball

Will be interesting to see who GW gets as his replacement.

This is very odd timing. I wonder if there are other issues besides the poor recent on the court performance.

GW hired a new athletic director during the past week - it's not surprising in that regard. It is late in terms of spring recruiting, but given GW's track record since 2007, can you blame them for wanting to go in a different direction?

I'm going to go ahead and start the Pat Kelsey rumors.

He would be a nice fit, for sure.

Timing is odd, though, especially with the team improving and talented PF Erik Copes coming in.

Wow, very odd timing.

Get ready to see the crew jumping ship with a number of transfers. That further weakens the A-10 next year.

Damn, other than X, Temple and maybe St. Louis this is shaping up to be a disaster year for the league. Bona might finish 4th.

Bona is at least putting together a legit program under Schmidt. I hope they keep it on the rise, though recruiting will always be tough to Olean...

GW hired Mike Lonergan from Vermont. Solid hire I think. He's from Bowie and went to Carroll high school so maybe he gets some tier-2 WCAC kids. He was great at Catholic U and did well up at Vermont. Hopefully GW becomes competitive again so it's a better RPI win when we kick their ass every year.

At least we know where Fordham and LaSalle will end up in the standings.
