Amber was just selected No. 4 overall by the Minnesota Lynx. Minnesota also had the No. 1 pick, and took Maya Moore.

Ta'Shia should go soon as well.

For the first time in my life I will actually pay attention to the WNBA. Congrats Amber and soon to be Ta'shia.

This is great new for both of them. I hope they have a successful and lucrative career in the WNBA. I just got done at work and I asked to turn the volume on of the draft, my manager laughed at me until I told him a few Xavier girls were going top 10.

Harris #4 to the Minn Lynx, and she'll team up with Maya Moore who was the #1 pick
Phillips #8 to the atlanta dream

That is pretty nuts that 2 Xavier women went in the top 10 of the draft. If this happened with the men's program we would be losing it. Congratulations to Amber and Ta'shia!

Congratulations to both Lady Musketeers. I wish you both have long, happy and successful careers in the WNBA. This is indeed a glorious and proud day for X fans and our women's basketball program.

This also means two new jerseys will be added to the halls of Cintas in front of the locker rooms.

I hope they have a successful and lucrative career in the WNBA.

Will they be successful yes.

Will it be lucrative...not so much.

Someone on twitter compared getting Maya Moore and Amber to getting Amare and Carmelo in the same draft.

Don't set aside the "lucrative" part of this for these players. It's not just about the salary, very small, that they'll get from their WNBA teams, but there are endorsments, and many of the players turn their off season into a big money maker overseas, and the top billing from the draft makes those impressive numbers even better.
No they will not make Tim Duncan money, but they will make good livings doing what they live to do, more so than I can say for many of us!

J, you've made your point in both this thread and the McGuff thread. This is not the thread to be bashing the players for their postseason performance.

As for both Amber and Ta'Shia, I'm proud of both of them. It would have been nice for Amber to be the #1 pick on a team by herself, but being paired with Maya Moore does take a little bit of pressure off of her for the upcoming season.

Correction on my earlier post, the game is in Minnesota, June 17th and then the two play on June 19th in Atlanta

It's annoying that the same posters who encourage fans to come out to women's game and attempt to follow the team want to treat the program with kid gloves.

If a men's team with two top 10 picks for 4 years struggled that consistently in the postseason, people would be piling on.

There really is no such thing as a lucrative career in the WNBA. According to this mornings paper picks 1 thru 4 will earn $46,708 in 1st year salary and picks 5 thru 8 will earn $43,205 in 1st year salary. With their Xavier degrees they could do just about as well outside of basketball. The only real plus to them is that they will be following their lifes dream and I cheer them for accomplishing that. The monetary rewards are small.

Aviator, I don't have a problem with people criticizing the coaching/postseason results in the other thread, but this thread is not the place to be doing that.

I'm just going to have to start cleaning this thread before posters start attacking one another.

Fair enough, can't argue with that I suppose I just feel like a few certain posters won't tolerate anything negative.

I'm happy and proud for Amber and Ta'Shia. They have represented Xavier well and done their jobs in an outstanding fashion.

I'm sorry, but it is just too bad that the former coach's talents couldn't live up to theirs.

I'm glad they were able to overcome the Head Coach's incompetence and get to a point where they'll be able to continue their careers and get paid. For what they gave at Xavier, they deserved much better than they recieved from the head coach.

With that, the former coach is dead to me.

It sounds like what you're saying is that posters should be able to anonymously rip ass on here, and be shielded from anyone, me in particular since you are apparently calling me out, who wants to criticize them for placing negative comments in an inappropriate place and time.

No, that's not it. Obviously, pretty much everyone is anonymous on here. I just think it's funny/hypocritical that you, anonymously, call people out for voicing anything negative about the women's program, while still at the same time calling for the team to get the same level of respect and devotion as the men.

We're done. This thread is getting away from everybody on here.
