Just about perfect. Local girl Veena Sud, '85 Cincinnati Country Day, executive produces and wrote the pilot. The comparisons to "Mystic River" are valid. Slow developing and eerie. Based on a Danish series.

I once bought an issue of "Film Comment" and boy did i feel fancy. For weeks I could be heard babbling about "auteurs" and "oeuvres."

Somolent thread, and I don't know why. This show is the best.

Enjoyed the show so far; saw pilot and first episode on Sunday.
Has there been more of this show earlier, or just something similar on foreign TV?
Some similarities to Wallendar series (photography/weather) and a little bit of Twin Peaks feel to it without the David Lynch weirdness.

Only two episodes so far with this version. I believe the danish version followed Wallender when it aired on BBC.
But there are different plot twists with the AMC show. It's not like "Cracker" where they just remade it with American actors.
I did love that Robbie Coltrane in "Cracker."

Somnolent? I like "somolent" better......it sound like a combo of "soma" and "salmonella", a yeasty, drug induced lassitude.
At least for this board, the show will be going up against NHL hockey for a couple of months, and we know that's where elite posters meet.
But I digress: I enjoyed it as well, and until your Wallender allusion, I was trying to remember what the pacing was reminding me of. Good hooks and Im into the characters already. Do you think the DA's operative stole the pool car from his rival's garage to set up the frame?

My wife and I have really enjoyed watching The Killing. Good writing and acting. I will say this though...I don't think I've ever seen a show or movie that goes into such gut wrenching, blow by blow detail of parents dealing with the murder of their child. The actor who plays the father is brilliant....but some of the scenes at the funeral home and the father's eventual breakdown were really hard to watch....to the point where my wife was asking to fast forward those parts because they were so emotional.
Mystic River comes to mind...but a two hour movie obviously can't go into detail like The Killing. Also really like the actress who plays the lead detective.
