Let the women's coaching carousel begin.....
Apparently he has interviewed for the job. Matt Bollant of Wisc-Green Bay and Bill Fennelly of Iowa State are also candidates.

I don't want to be rude but he needs to get out of here now after the last 2 seasons we've had. The fan base for our women's program is not very good and we are not going to get better. Good for him if he lands another gig. He's done a great job in his tenure here and best of luck if he moves on.

Not to mention he has a good chance to get exposed next season.

Would be a dam shame. He has proven to be the best in the history of the program, and he has the opportunity to make this a destination, much like Notre Dame, Purdue, Baylor, Oklahoma and others have become in the shadow of Tenn and UConn.
I think that the next 2 years here for McGuff could put a stamp on him personally as one of the greats in the coaching ranks.
I really can't see him leaving for a program like Wisconsin, but it certainly would be a challenge since it hasn't had a great deal of success, it's upside would be the Big 10, as well as a decent fan base, 4600+ per game this year and just 16-15.
Hoping he'll stick it out, put his permanent stamp on the Xavier program.

What's your feel, why is it that the XU program can't seem to get support of the Cincinnati area? It's not like they haven't had success, and not like the success has just been recent.

That didn't stop Melanie Balcomb from getting the Vandy job after the trainwreck that was the 2001-02 season.

I'd be shocked if he took that job. Washington's commitment to women's basketball is... questionable at best. It's on the other side of the country and makes less sense than Wisconsin did. They would have to throw some serious money his way.
His rejection of the Wisconsin job tells me that he is not actively looking to get out, but interviewing to see what people have to say. I think he'd really have to be wowed to consider leaving X.

Remember the circumstances surrounding that move don't you? She wasn't Vandy's pick for the job.
Balcomb was a second, last minute choice. The coach who Vandy had hired was pushed away from the job because of questions about his resume', those questions ended up unfounded but the move was done by the time that was discovered. Worst part about that move was that it came so late, I think it was early to mid June when she left X. I remember that Coach McGuff was introduced when one of the XU camps was starting, he was around for a day or two but the players ended up running the camp with the a remaining assistant and Jodi, the trainer!

Know McGuff a little, unless something has changed, I think he'll take next season as a personal challenge. While we who are just fans can look at the crew for the 11-12 season and think it's substandard to what we have come to expect over the last 4 years, I think the staff thinks differently.

Tom Collen was the guy in question; he eventually got the Louisville job. If I'm not mistaken, he recruited a number of key players for Louisville's 2009 championship team before Jeff Walz took over the program.

Yup, as I recall the issue was his claim to have a couple of degrees, one that Miami U challenged when asked by Vandy. But then long after the fact Miami came back and corrected saying that Collen was correct.
