MID MAJOR MADNESS!!!!

What? Alabama and Colorado couldn't win the NIT?

Hey Jay, Did the Shockers deserve a bid to the NIT, or should Oregon State have taken their spot?

Wichita State was fantastic in the NIT. People here are wondering where this team was in February and the MVC Tournament. Too bad it took them a week too long to put it all together.

I wonder if the parade in Wichita will be as big as the one in Dayton last year???

Yes, with the crowning of the new NIT champions, we must pause and reflect on the difficult night our neighbors up I-75 will face this eve.

There will be some moist eyes in Dayton tonight. UD fans huddling with close friends, breaking down and sobbing..."Remember when we won the NIT, and we were on top of the world?"

Pontiff knows this is a cruel and thoughtless thing to say and violates some kind of commandment or something, and he should be charitable to all humankind. Yet the Vicar wards off any second thoughts and persists in posting this.

It's 11:00pm here. What time is it there?

The loss in their conference tourney obviously prevented the auto big but even if they got through Indiana St they likely would have lost to Missouri St considering they lost to them twice on the year. The loss to VCU might have been what killed their chance at the NCAA tourney.

Witchita St was definitely better than numerous non auto bid teams that made the tourney but their RPI wasn't good enough. Teams like Marquette got a waiver on the RPI but that will never happen for teams outside the big 6.

Shockers? 69?

So the NCAA Tournament is family-friendly CBS and the NIT Tournament is Cinemax? Did they mount the WSU Cougars to win?

Goodness.

I'm more interested in who wants to be #101 - Oregon or Creighton.

Basically, with the NCAA, NIT, CBI and College Insider tourneys, if you are one of the top 132 teams in college basketball- over 1/3 of Division 1, you can play in a post season fete.

If you cannot make one of those, you are not good....

I'm staring at you LaSuck and F-M.

Was there a CBI and a CIT this year? Huh. I guess there was. Didn't hear a thing about them, which is probably how it should be :)

In the Maui Invititational, Wichita led UConn for the entire game, and really blew it in the final two minutes. Had they won that game, their profile would have looked a ton different, and maybe they get in the NCAAs despite stubbing their toes a time or two in conference play. Not only that, but they would have played against Kentucky, I think, which would have been another shot at a nice win. Instead they got Chaminade.

Imagine how that game in November could have changed their season....and Missouri State's for that matter.
