Never listen to what a player says immediately after an NCAA tournament loss. That's not exactly a binding declaration.

depending on what happens with the potential lock out, hey may not be passing up a cent.

I wonder if the impending lockout could lead to some talented players staying in extra year (which would make for some good basketball next year). However, if they get drafted but there's a lockout, don't they still get their guaranteed contracts?

Technically there would be no Collective Bargaining Agreement in place so there would be no draftee salary structure- hence no guaranteed contracts.

I wonder if those coaches who overrecruited assuming their stars would go one and done (Calipari, Matta) will have a logjam if there is a lockout, and either tell their recruits to decommit or force the so-so players out of the program.

If there's a lockout, there's no CBA and therefore no guaranteed anything -- except that if the player wants to play in the NBA he will have to play for the team that drafted him. The only guarantee is that a team will own the rights to sign that player, under the terms of a to-be-negotiated CBA.
