Who will win??

I'm taking VCU based both on them being a very good team and the potential destiny of them beating each of the big 6 conferences during the tourney. Assuming they beat Kansas they need only a win against the SEC and could get that next round vs FL or in the Championship against KY.

VCU has a ton of talent and athleticism so they won't fold like Richmond did. Kansas is a great team and will obviously be favored but they have a history of choking in the tourney. This would no longer be considered choking as an elite 8 is solid and they are the only 1 seed left but obviously they expect to play for a championship. Kansas might even be a bit afraid to play VCU at this point.

All that being said VCU makes some dumb mistakes at times and might be due for a bad game. My money will be once again on VCU but in smaller quantities.

KU should win this game fairly easily. However, Nothing is easy this late in the season. VCU has been relying on their athleticism to win them games so far (with the exception of FSU I think they're been the more athletic team every time). KU will have more talent and will be able to keep VCU's playmakers (Skeen, Burgess, etc.) in check.

Morris twins might not have big games because of VCU's size, but I think KU's guard play is better and will be able to carry the team. Elijah Johnson will be a big factor in this game. He's KU's most athletic guard, but still comes off the bench. I predict he'll have a big game.

I look forward to the party Sunday night in downtown Lawrence as KU advances to the Final 4!

Kansas's road to the Final 4 and the national title game is an absolute disgrace - a 16 seed, a 9 seed, a 12 seed, and now an 11 seed. Even Butler is only an 8 seed.

By comparison, the 1992 Bearcats had to beat a 5 seed in Michigan State.

Looking like that disgraceful path is putting up quite the roadblock. VCU up 18 with 4 to go in the first half.

VCU pounding Kansas. Outside of the KU title a few years ago it looks like another disappointing NCAA for the Jayhawks. Also would guarantee another mid major in the title game in back to back years. Parity galore in the college bball landscape.

Let's not be premature here. It's not even halftime. But Kansas better get its act together. I don't know if my brain could handle Butler beating VCU by a point after a controversial call to go to the finals.

VCU looks like the Harlem Globetrotters when they play the Washington Generals. I really hope this holds up... How would you like your crow served, Mr. Vitale?

I bet Kansas makes a game of it, though.

If VCU makes the Final Four it will be totally meaningless as they didn't pass the Jay Bilas eye test.

The twitter feed on Jay Bilas is hilarious, I highly recommend checking it out. It's not him tweeting, it's the other people tweeting about him.

Jay Bilas never won a Final Four, but he's 20 minutes away from perhaps inspiring a team to do so

Nice work Kahns. VCU shooting 1-10 since going up 18. Didn't know you had that kind of pull. Now why the hell didn't you use it against Marquette?!?!

No kidding.

I still have a shot at winning some decent money in the office pool, so I'm rooting for Kansas for that reason, but I'd still love to see VCU in the Final 4 simply because I love the upsets this time of year.

These pro "analysts" have totally sucked this yr. with their predictions, oh, and last year too. Almost a George Costanza "pick the opposite" joke.

Yeah, this game is over. VCU up 8 with less than 30 to go. Really poor coaching job by Self. For KU fans it's like Deja-Vu all over again. If it wasn't for their championship a few years ago, they might be the most underachieving powerhouse in the past 25 years. Crazy. Butler now gets to play VCU in the Final 4...who they match up with VERY well. Unbelievable.

Meanwhile, who is going to bet that 80% of the conversation on B_Espn this week will be about Connecticut making the Final Four?

Meanwhile Jay Bill-ass and the other smart guys on there will ignore their statements that VCU did not deserve to be in the Tourney.

This week will prove that America is a bunch of morons. There will be much talk of "Who wants to watch Butler/VCU?" Well, anyone who doesn't know anything about Florida and Kansas other than their names should also want to see Butler vs. VCU because, you know, it's the Final Four, but I bet it gets terrible ratings. Because people are idiots.

Like a suborn mule Bill-ass was already laying out his defense an hour ago per this tweet:

"Final Four or out in 1st Round, Selection argument against VCU and UAB still the same. Neither w/ better credentials than CU, VT, UA, SM."

ESPN for sure will side step the ignorant statements from Selection Sunday this week. Good call jackazzes.

Just bc VCU got hot still doesn't mean they belonged in the tournament. They lost 11 games and went 14-7 in the CAA. Rpi was 49 and sos was 89. They probably didn't deserve to be in the tournament but there were also a lot of other teams who didn't either. Awesome run by VCU and I hope they win it all. Could you imagine winning 7 games and to be the first team to do that in the first year they went to 68. Unbelievable! Go VCU. Shaka will be Shocking the world next year at his dream job The University of Dayton. I'm joking about that one.

Meanwhile, no note that Southern Cal or any other Big Six selectee who did not deserve it should have been left out.

Enough of the defense of Bill-ass. He is a big conference shill as is Dookie V. His true colors have been exposed.

They should keep their collective mouths shut the night of Selection Sunday. All they wind up doing is making fools of themselves.

An RPI of 49 was certainly deserving of a bid- much more than some team in the high 60's who may have played in a Big Six conference.

Oh, and how many games did Colorado lose? USC?

These idiots probably never saw VCU play before the tourney. They played some great ball but had some bad games as well. The mistake made by Dickie V and Bilas was they underestimated the talent in the CAA. GM may have been blown out but that was partially due to their best player suffering illness and missing the game and OSU just happened to be hot. ODU lost to an eventual final 4 team on a last second shot. The poor finish by VCU was still better than Nova's finish but ESPN assumed the BE was dominant and the CAA was mediocre. Bad assumption.

I'll take another sweet payday from the VCU victory.

Butler will be a tough game but Butler typically wins by getting to more loose balls and just working harder. I don't think they can out work VCU. VCU is quicker and longer. Butler will play tough D and crash the glass but VCU will do the same. This game will likely come down to which team is hot.

Mr. Eye Test trying to go back to the resume now that he has been proven wrong.

Come on, you could make an argument for a number of teams, but it wasn't ridiculous then and it certainly isn't ridiculous now.

Dickie V's and Bilas's heads have probably exploded. They need to just suck it up, admit they were wrong and the committee was right, and apologize to VCU. Would love to see them win it all.

At least Dick Vitale has said since then during a halftime show or something that he was wrong about VCU. Jay Bilas did none of the same. I think they missed the point that a number of schools had mediocre resumes (NIT bids in past years), and none really stood out, including Virginia Tech and Colorado.

I'm surprised nobody ever mentions the heat that George Mason took for getting an NCAA bid in 2006 - people forget that they were an at-large selection that season. People also forget that their top player (Tony Skinn) was suspended for the 1st-round game against Michigan State because he threw a low blow in the CAA Tournament that season.

The talking heads back then were moaning about them getting in instead of some other BCS team. Now to their credit, VCU had to win 5 games to get to the Final 4. Question now is, could they be the first team to ever get 7 NCAA units in one season?

smileyy
03-27-2011, 10:00 PM
They at least have a decent chance to be the first team to win 6 NCAA tournament games in a season without winning the title.
