Meet Southeastern Missouri State: Xavier University kicks off it's 2007-08 men's basketball regular season schedule against Southeastern Missouir State in the First Round of the Chicago Invitational. The Redhawks were 2-0 in exhibition play after beating Lincoln 102-96 and Missouri-Rolla, 80-63. Last season Southeast Missouri State was 11-20 overall and 9-11 in the in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Of Note: This matchup will also be a reunion of Drew Lavender and Brandon Foust, who were teammates at Brookhaven High School in Columbus and Lavender's first two years at Oklahoma. Foust is a Pre-Season OVC Selection and the teams leading scorer from last season. Lavender is a Pre-Season All-American and a candidate for the John Wooden Award.
SOUTHEASTERN MISSOURI HEAD COACH & COACHING STAFF
Head Coach: Scott Edgar
Coaching Record: 119-115 (Eight Total Seasons, Two at SEMO)
Highlights: Edgar is 1-5 lifetime against Xavier as head coach at Duquesne University. Edgar has never coached at the Cintas Center. Southeast is 9-6 in season openers but the Redhawks are 0-5 when opening on the road.
