SOS and RPI killed them

As did getting beat by just about every good team they played, including X dropping them by 23 (at Richmond) and Temple drilling them by 20.

But I still think the Spiders are capable of stealing a win, possibly two if they bring their A game. (Although I'll probably have them getting bounced in Rd. 1.)

The committee didn't take account of the game today (definitely one of the downsides of having a Sunday championship game).

But they should have taken into account the Temple win. Very odd.

Very winnable matchup with Vandy though. No excuses for Temple either as they got a favorable matchup.

How did Michigan State get a better seen than Richmond?

My question as well.

Vanderbilt is hit and miss in the tourney, Richmond has a chance to get by them. I will say this, the couple times I got to see Vandy they were clutch in end game situation.

Virginia Tech is out again! HAHAHA! I don't know why, but that made me so happy.

Folks, if Richmond got a 12 it means 2 things:

1)They would have been slotted in one of the play-in games in Dayton; or

2)Dayton would have gotten in instead of Richmond had the Flyers won today.

Of course they would have...today's game was for the auto bid.

Vandy is a pretty nice matchup for Richmond, but I still think Vandy will win

A 12!? Really? I thought they ould be a 10. Damn.

Funny but I thought the same thing. All along I was under the impression that the Spiders were solidly in, but their seed would tell a different story.

And Rhyno, 100% solidly with you on Va Tech. I don't like or dislike them, but their douchey coach whining every year about how they should've been in made it perfect for them to be left out again. Suggestion Seth, win a few more games and stop getting beat at home by BC.

Alot of people had Richmond in regardless... though it did show other-wise with the seeding tonight.

From watching Vandy I have them winning, whenever I watched them this season they looked like a solid squad and people seem to respect their coach's ability.

Same take on Va Tech. Lol. Anyone remember when they beat Duke and Dickie V was telling Greenberg "You're in this year baby! No doubt about that!"

Haha.

richmond got screwed.....and so did vandy.

if you look at some of the seeding, the committee seems to be sending the message that you need to schedule hard. if you win the games, great. if not, that's okay too. i'm all for encouraging teams to play a tough schedule, but not to the point to where it's rewarded even if the teams don't actually beat anybody. utah state looks like they may have also been out had they not won their conference tournament.

this is the third time in four years vandy has been stuck with a tough first round game. last year they had murray state, and i three years ago they had siena. people can say that siena and murray state didn't do anything to earn a seed better than #13. that may be true, but vandy DID earn a #4 seed. to match them against a team that is far better than their seed is unfair to them, and this is the third time in four years it has happened to them.

same with wisconsin, who is playing belmont, and perhaps texas who is playing oakland. i feel far less sorry for them, though, than i do for richmond and vandy.

I don't think that Richmond got screwed.

Sometimes the seeds are different from what the team may have truly deserved. I actually like the draw they got against Vandy. Then they probably play Louisville, who I also think is beatable. After that it's whatever you can do.

More aboutb matchups rather than seed line.

I don't think Richmond is built to face Louisville's style. I think the Cards will run the Spiders out of the gym if the Spiders get that far.

Would be pleased to be wrong, though.

i very much agree with this.

Basically what the committee is saying is the conference tournaments carry very little weight as regards to seeding except if your UConn. Kentucky winning the SEC tourney did nothing for their seed as well.

i have no idea what the committee is saying in regards to richmond. i'm trying to believe that they were at least a #11 that needed to be moved, but i don't know that and won't assume that.

richmond's schedule wasn't the toughest, but it wasn't bad. they played teams like vcu, old dominion, purdue, and iona out of conference. playing at iona isn't the easiest of games. their schedule wasn't so bad that i think they should have been punished for it.

other than the loss to georgia tech, there is nothing really bad on their profile. beating temple on a neutral floor isn't an earth shattering win, but it's at the very least decent. it's better than a #12 seed.

i really don't get it. i'm more confused by that than anything else.

That is why they are Conference Carnivals.

I believe that Bobo being on the inside has educated CMack on what is really important- the regular season and winning your league title.

The only thing that Conference Carnivals change is for the bid stealers that win a Carnival when they were not going to get a bid otherwise.

Remember that next year when the babbling heads are talking about a Carnival "play-in game." It won't be.

Vandy has been an enigma this year. They probably have more talent that any other team in the SEC, but they have underperformed on a regular basis. It wouldn't surprise me if Vandy lost to Richmond. It wouldn't surprise me if Vandy beat Richmond and L'ville.

Spiders win! That's 2-0 for the conference thus far. Finally the rest of the A10 is making some noise in the tourney again. Let's make it 3-0 boys!

Awesome how the title of this thread is "Richmond got hosed" and now they have the easiest road to the Sweet 16 out of all the A10 schools (as long as Indiana St doesn't shock Syracuse).

Go Spiders! I never thought I would be proud of the other A10 teams come tourney time.

A 12 seed is pretty awesome to get.

It kind of is. If you figure that there's not a huge difference between the 20th best team in the country and the 48th best, particularly when the "20th" has a good chance of being overrated, yeah, the 12/5 upset isn't really surprising.

I think Richmond can handle Morehead St., but I'd hate to look past them. You don't get to be the all-time leading rebounder in the NCAA by being chopped liver, even if guys don't stay 4 years anymore.

It all depends on whether Richmond is hitting their shots or not. Faried isn't going to let them have too many second chances.

I was so impressed by Richmond's defense in the second half. I think the next game will be a pretty strong match up. Anderson was really killing it!

Congrats to both Richmond and Temple.

The A-10 is represented well this year.

Now for THE SHOW to take the floor.

Richmond and Temple have solid shots at a Sweet 16, especially Richmond getting to play Morehead State. Good for them.

Yes but Richmond has a better chance of beating Morehead State than they did if they were playing Louisville.
