He was backing down Burton and the dude went WAY overboard. He got kicked out of the game because he couldn't handle playing basketball the right way. It was a major overreaction to Kevin establishing position on the low block. Burton was actually whistled for a foul, then he got the tech for punching Parrom in the face. Just no need for that type of thing in a game.

Saw the highlight. Kevin seemed to extend an arm passed the kid's face. It looked to be innocent, but in heated battles down low, could certainly be construed to be something else. The key to that, is that you bring it up to the official calmly. Let them know after the play that you think he took a swing at you. They'll go to the monitors and look, and then T the kid up. He didn't though. He showed his immaturity and childish behavior to the fullest, by turning around and hitting Kevin.

Never. EVER, is that kind of behavior acceptable. It's a sad day when you see these tings in sports.

There was bumping going on from both for sure. Only one was dumb enough to punch the other in the face right in front of the ref. :)

Still lame. Get over it, as fans we are better to be 'ok' with players getting jabbed at. Mods, please contemplate deleting this thread. Thanks.

I wouldn't have started the thread myself, but c'mon, it's a little bit appropriate that the coach puncher got punched.

Those who were there and know the full story actually take Parrom's side in that incident. Supposedly the coach was really out of line and both had wrong doing in the incident. You'd think a grown man would be able to see things were getting out of hand and calmed the situation instead of adding fire to it. He's a tough kid, but he's definately not a bad kid nor a thug.

I haven't thought about Parrom since he went to Arizona and normally wouldn't comment but...

I just don't think you can excuse Parrom's punching of his coach. We don't excuse Sprewell choking Carlesimo or Coach Knight choking Neil Reed. Excusing physical violence for the most part is something I think needs to be severely checked in society.

I also believe that Parrom has probably matured and grown since then (as hopefully the Coach has) and see no reason to dwell on it.

Yeah, my point was they were both at fault. It's not okay to do things like that and I for sure don't condone that type of behavior. I'm saying, things got heated and the coach step over quite a few lines and Parrom reacted poorly.

What's up with the first paragraph of the article? "...has been shot near his leg." Near his leg? Then just a few paragraphs down its clear he was shot in the leg. The only places near the leg are the foot and the groin.

I'd hate to make this a race issue, but these Jews are out of control. If they only focussed on family and education, maybe we'd see fewer altercations that end up in gunfire and people getting shot.

Arizona’s Kevin Parrom Stable After Shooting
BY ADAM ZAGORIA ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2011, 10:50PM

Arizona junior wing Kevin Parrom is in stable condition after being shot early Saturday morning in The Bronx in an apparent dispute over a woman.

Parrom was at home visiting his sick mother.

“It happened at approximately 1:05 Saturday at 1200 Woodycrest Avenue,” a New York Police Department spokesperson who requested anonymity told SNY.tv by phone. ”He was shot one time in the right leg. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

“He was with a woman and two people came to that location and knocked on the door. They followed him into a bedroom and shot him with a 22-caliber handgun. No one else was in the apartment when he was shot.”

No arrests were made; the investigation is ongoing.

“I have been in contact with Kevin and his family throughout the weekend and look forward to his return to Tucson and being back in class this week,” Arizona coach Sean Miller said in a statement. “Our focus is on Kevin’s health right now. Once we have more information, we’ll be able to address his potential return to team activities.”

“We are aware that Kevin Parrom went home this weekend to visit his mother, who is in the hospital,” Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne said. “While in New York City, he was the victim of a shooting. Rest assured, Kevin’s well being is our primary concern.”

Parrom, who starred at St. Raymond’s in The Bronx and South Kent (Conn.), did not immediately respond to a text message.

A second source with knowledge of the incident said the woman’s jealous boyfriend or ex-boyfriend was behind the shooting.

“[Parrom] had a girl visiting him,” the second source said. “The girl’s jealous boyfriend or ex-boyfriend shows up at Kevin’s house. He brings a dude with him. The dude that’s with him has a gun.

“Somehow the guys get in the house, words are exchanged. One of the guys pulls out a gun. Kevin grabs the gun, they wrestle for the gun. The guy pulls the trigger, which grazes [Parrom] in the hand. The shooter pulls back and the shot grazes [Parrom] in the leg.”

The second source added that Parrom would be “OK.”

Gary Charles, Parrom’s AAU coach with the New York Panthers, told SNY.tv he spoke briefly with Parrom Sunday and that Parrom told him, “I’m good. I’m walking.”

Former Arizona guard Nic Wise tweeted, “Oh and y’all pray for My man Kevin Parrom too. He going thru it.”

Parrom averaged 7.6 points and 3.4 rebounds last season for the Wildcats, who reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Man, scary stuff. I get the worst flash backs when I hear someone is shot in the leg. When I heard Sean Taylor got shot in the leg four years ago, I thought, "Damn, there goes our season." I didn't even know what a femoral artery was. 24 hours later and my favorite athlete who ever walked the face of the earth is dead. Glad Parrom is OK, and I think it's time to pursue other women. Why he's chasing bitches around the Bronx when he lives on the campus of the University of Arizona is beyond me.

Well played. I would rep you again if I could.

Regarding Parrom: Trouble really seems to follow this kid around. He really seems to put himself in bad situations. Hopefully he gets it together at some point.

Sometimes it's best to stay out of the hood once you get out. Lol It's a mean area. I feel for this kid I really do, he found out not long ago his mother is battling cancer and now this. He really isn't a bad kid, he doesn't get in any trouble at Arizona, and the kid works his but off in the gym to get better. He was likely gonna be an All Pac 12 type of performer this year and know, who knows when he is coming back this year. He may not.

Gotta say I was pissed when he bolted to AZ, that left a temporary hole in our recruiting, but have to say nobody deserves what happened to him. Hope he can come back as he seems to be adjusting the best he can:
