Well March Madness started this week. One or two conferences got started as early as past monday. I like to start threads for the various tourneys of interest, but I'm going to be in and out a lot this weekend.
Thought I'd at least start this one since X played Albany. Games are in Hartford CT. They are the 4 seed playing 5 seed Stony Brook tomorrow at noon. No idea their chances of winning.

the big south is interesting. coastal carolina won 20+ straight games, but then had a player suspended and now the school is under investigation. a two game losing streak followed.
they are playing and hosting the championship game, though.
in the america east, i really like vermont's chances. they opened against a weak binghamton team, which they should win. then, they have to beat one mid-level team in order to get the championship game on theri home court.
horizon league is also underway. some decent teams in that, and it was a log jam at the top between milwaukee, butler, valpo and cleveland state. that could potentially make for an interesting semifinals, and even quarterfinal games today.

Coastal Carolina also got a scare in the 1st half last night when one of their starters tweaked an ankle late in the 1st half. Who knows how many healthy bodies they'll have should they beat Asheville tomorrow.

Albany goes down in the 1st round to Stoner Brook. They had a small lead early in the 1st half, but SB came back and led at half. They stretched it out to at least 8 in the 2nd, and Albany couldn't get back on top.
Brews Vermont won the their first game against Binghampton.

a very sucktacular performance for vermont in the semis so far. so much for that. the remaining teams are looking at getting a very poor seed in the ncaas.
