How is Georgetown 10-7 in their conference and ranked #11 in the country!

What a load of crap. You would think the Big Least is made up of the Heat, Celtics, Magic, Bulls, and a few Big East teams.

Georgetown is awful right now, they just can't shoot. Syracuse didn't look much better. It amazes me how college teams struggle playing against zone defenses.

I noticed in the UC game the Georgetown guards were gassed in the 1st half and waiving their arms to come out of the game for a blow. With Tu and Mark playing almost 40 minutes a game I have never seen one of them ask to come out of the game for a rest. The Georgetown players looked overweight and out of condition to me.

I know this might not be a popular sentiment, but maybe the aggressive and solid defense played by UC had something to do with it? I noticed the same thing with Holloway and Lyons when our guys played them. I even noticed the same thing when Louisville played UC. When UC is playing well, it just seems like a lot of teams wear out more than typical. Just saying.

I'm as big a Big Greased hater as there is but,

Georgetown did go 11-1 in non conference and actually played a few games away from Washington. They won at Memphis and at Old Donimion (by 3) and also beat Missouri away from home.

They're ranking is based upon their non-con sched results, but it will probably drop after this week.

That beings said, Georgetown is one of those teams that seems to always have their mistakes minimized by the voters while Xavier gets no breaks at all for a toe stub.

Georgetown deserved to be ranked high when they won 8 or 9 in a row in the Big East or whatever it was. They deserve to drop like a rock this week, though.

I agree that UC plays pretty good defense and they played great defense against both Xavier and G-Town. If UC does not play great defense then teams like Depaul and Fordham can beat them because they are so challenged offensively. UC gets the benefit of the doubt and for some reason the refs swallow the whistle when they play. Maybe they feel sorry for Mick.

I also agree that Georgetown players in general seem fat and out of shape which is hard when you play basketball 24/7. They look more like players from the local Y league.

The losses might be explained by Chris Wright being out because of his hand

Agreed, Georgetown better find a way to win without Wright or else it will be a short post season.

they were #11 coming into this week. they've lost their last two, but no polls have come out in the meantime. they won't be #11 on monday.

as MOR pointed out, georgetown did play people out of conference. they won at old dominion, they beat missouri in kansas city in front of a very pro mizzou crowd, they beat wofford on a neutral floor (who was the preseason favorite to win the socon after making the ncaas last year as a #13 seed), they played at temple and lost in a close game, they won at memphis, and beat utah state.

that's a hell of a schedule. the big east isn't exactly easy either. if anyone deserves a little praise from the voters, georgetown does. people say that the big east plays watered down ooc schedules, and in many cases that's right, but not in the case of georgetown. if anything, it's kind of nice to see a team like georgetown being rewarded by staying in the rankings despite being 10-7. hopefully it will send a message saying that if you schedule hard, you'll be ranked higher. i doubt many of their fellow big east members will care, though.

Time for Georgetown to plummet in the ratings. When's the last time they won, anyway?
