I used to say I couldn't imagine anyone is dumb enough to go through a DUI checkpoint while intoxicated. Then my brother-in-law went through one drunk (blew a .2!) with a crack pipe and some pot in his glove box and changed my mind.

Is your brother-in-law Charlie Sheen?
Nope, he's much less discreet than Mr. Sheen. :D

It's like when you know it's Spring.....robins in your yard or daffodils sprouting from the ground. This is a sure sign Andy Kennedy and Bob Huggins are in town.

I drove through one last year. We were getting home from vacation late on a Saturday, I hadn't been drinking all day, so I wanted to see what one looked like.
It looks like a colossal waste of money.

It's your too-low tax dollars at work. Set up a checkpoint at the library. THEN you will catch some drunks. Trust me on that one.....

Most of the drunks at the library have either walked there, or taken the streetcar.

I wish I had a picture. There are portable lights, traffic cones, officers and cars everywhere, signs set up for miles around and handouts for every person passing through.
I can't imagine what the pricetag is for one of these checkpoints. It would not surprise me at all to find every officer out there is getting overtime pay for an event like this.
Here's a picture from one in Pennsylvania. It's similar to the one I went through. What a waste.

That's shamefully un-American.

That looks more like the infamous I-70-Breezewood tollbooth interchange as opposed to a DUI checkpoint. The only thing missing in that picture are the toolbooths themselves.

So, if you are lucky enough to be in the 3rd lane from the right you only have to smell the breath of 3 cops?

O.M.G. So, thats the route we took to get to DC this weekend for a funeral. Breezewood is a complete tourist trap! You're exactly right.
We're actually going back through there tomorrow. Wish us luck.
