View Full Version : Temple @ Duke
This one should be a very good game. Hopefully, it won't be like the curb-stomping Temple suffered last year when #1 Kansas came to Philly.
The Owls are rolling right now, and Duke has just been feasting on ACC bottom-dwellers (which is basically everyone except them and UNC) for the past couple weeks.
I would love to see Temple pull off the upset, though they are playing at Cameron which does not bode well for visitors.
Thoughts?

I think Temple gets killed but I hope I am wrong. Duke has just been stomping teams all year long at home. If this was on a neutral floor I think Temple could hang for a while but not at Cameron. Duke 82-63.

A Temple win would be nice for our RPI.....I however see Duke winning by 15-20.....

All for Temple in this one.
Would really be a nice high profile win for the league.
Also, I have no problem with Temple. Dunphy is a good guy and a good coach. Even the Flagship needs a little competition push in this league.

Yeah I hope Temple pulls this one off. It would be good for our rpi and the conferece as a whole. I dont have any predictions though. I do know Duke is a tough place to go in and get a win. Hope the Owls can do it.

I hope Temple wins.
However I'm pretty sure they lose by at least 400 points.
This is a pretty good Duke team who seem to be hitting on all cylinders right now.

Well, if Temple loses,
-I hope it is by 400 points
-They are so shell-shocked after this loss that they lose their next 2 A-10 games
-Thereby Xavier's "Drive for 5" is cinched.
Temple has no shot of winning the game. Maybe they can cover the 14, but I wouldn't count on it.

It's too bad this game isn't on the road or a neutral site. Duke has been inconsistent outside of Cameron.

I think you had a similar position regarding Xavier vs. Fordham. So, based on that and after reading this post, I would take the points. No offense.
Also, agree with Sash a Temple win is huge for Xavier's RPI.
Hoot! Hoot! GO OWLS!

None taken, but for what it's worth I put my smallest bet on the X-Fordham game because I wasn't in love with the spot, whereas I put bigger ones on the UGa, Duqense games, and a really big one last night against LaSalle. Don't forget most posters thought I made a bad bet last night, but it was the first time since the George Mason win last week that I was confident enough to put my biggest bet down, and the Muskies didn't let me down. But X bets are different because I follow them so much more closely than other teams. When it comes to Duke as a host to an OOC team, I feel like I only have two options: take the home team, or run far, far away. Temple folds like a chair in these kinds of games under Dunphy and Duke is going to control the pace and shoot the lights out. That said, from a non-betting perspective, I would love if hell froze over and the Owls somehow got the W.

This game was never in doubt. Temple is just letting us be the only relevant A10 team a little earlier than normal this year.
Winning at Duke as an OOC opponent is out of the question. I did end up taking Duke so I'm just glad I got that cover because Temple hung around for most of the game.

Well, I guess I'll give Temple a sort of pass for last night because both Scootie Randall and Michael Aric (sp?) were out.
Nobody ever seems to be "out" when they play Xavier- except for Hazell at Seton Hall. Dook always seems to get a break- from refs, injuries, clock, etc.
This may knock Temple out of the Top 25.

Did Duke get a break when they lost Kyrie Irving for the year due to injury after 8 games?

So? That knocks their McDonald's All American roster count down by just one- from 6 to 5.
Too f-ing bad, huh?

duke hasn't lost an ooc home game since 2000. granted, it is worth noting that many of those teams were cupcakes, but not all of them have been.
unfortunately for duke, the ncaa tournament isn't being played on their home court. they don't scare me as much away from cameron. for that matter there are only one or two teams that i think we'd really be overmatched by on a neutral floor. most of the time you don't like the #8/#9 seeds because of the potential second round match-up against the #1s, but this year i'd like our chances against most of them.

Temple is a better team than 10 out of 12 ACC teams this year. It's Duke and UNC and 10 mediocre teams this season.
Which begs the question - why is Dick Vitale doing mostly ACC games this year instead of the BE? Is it written in his contract that he only be allowed to call ACC Tournament games as well? We all know how much he loves Leonard Hamilton, right?
