Congrats to XU87 on a strong season. He put in a hell of a game and I am sure he'll be back in the Sweet 16 again next year. There is not a game throughout this tournament in which you can take lightly. This is especially true when you take on an opponent of the caliber of XU87. That program going that far is certainly no fluke. I hope they hold their heads high. There's an old saying when it comes to these things...only one team can finish with a win.

As for our program... Wow. The boys stepped up, played the game of their lives, and played fantastic defense for 35 minutes. We have to fix up that stretch in the beginning when nerves affected their decision making, but when it came into crunch time, they responded.

I couldn't be happier for where we are. If you asked me two weeks ago if we would make an Elite Eight as an 8 seed, I would tell you to bet against it. For our next match up, we'll worry about scouting when it comes to it. Right now, we're going to do what we've been doing after a big win, which is celebrate and enjoy it for a night.

You might want to send your scouts back to the tape before the Elite 8 matchup. Mack is rolling into the West regional finals sporting a robust 87.3 points per game in the tournament. Of course, he's allowing 79.3 points per game.

By contrast, Beard U's squad had a tough time finding the basket in their first two wins - but increased their scoring average to 71.7 by virtue of a 96-point explosion over XU 87. The Titan defense is staunch, though: giving up no more than 60 points in any game so far.

Something's gotta give: Mack's high-octane offense or Titan's lock-down defense. Should be one to remember for generations to come.

The SixFigeteers, after being sent to the seventh circle of hell (Cleveland) for the first two rounds, trained this weekend in Vegas. Then, hungover like none other, they head to New Orleans of all places for the regional semifinal. Crisp passing and high percentage shots being the name of SixFig's game, they were able to hold off the last remaining female challenger in the bracket. Now on to Xpectations, also a very highly efficient poster, though a less frequent one.

Earlier in this magical run that we're having, I said I was not going to even address these questions. I lied and I apologize. Let it be known that I'll be coming back next year. Some people would consider this job a Ford Station Wagon compared to those Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes type programs of the world. Well, unlike those coaches, I feel that we have the capability, talent, resources, and ability to still make it where we want to go. Four tires and an engine can still take you places, and I don't need all the glitz and glamor that some of those asshole coaches out West need. I'm coming back to Beard U. This run is no fluke. I'm going to make it happen again to the point where it's expected.

You next opponent, he's quite a powerful offensive threat. No one has been able to stop him. How do you approach Coach Mack as an opponent?

He's no slouch on the offensive end, thats no secret. I'd be lying if I told you that we aren't worried about their firepower, especially behind the arc. But we're going to do what we've been doing. It's all about defense in this one. We feel our defensive efforts are stronger than theirs, and when it comes down to it, defense wins championships. Sure, the shiney, bald head of his is intimidating. And charismatic is an understatement when describing Coach Mack. However, we feel that what we do best, defense, is done better than what they have done.

I do and I don't. I think thats the danger of it all. I've laid awake at night after these big victories, staring up at the ceiling and pondering about what would happen if we continue this run. If we not only make it to the Final Four, but pull off a few more upsets and get in. What would happen? How would our lives change? But it's that kind of thinking that we're trying to discourage. We have to approach it one game at a time. At this point, honestly, we're just thrilled to be here. We're glad to make this magical run and in ten years, we'll be a trivia question amongst the board and thats about it. Unless we win it all, thats all we will be. Coach Mack is going to be a tough win. Whatever happens, happens and I'll be ok with it so long as we play our best, play tough defense, and work hard. I'll be disappointed if we give up or put in a lackluster effort, however, I haven't been disappointed in this group of kids in a long, long time and I don't foresee being so after the Elite Eight.
