"We have a better overall record than most teams."
Maybe thats because your strength of schedule is 94
Lets be fortunate we have a coach who does not complain and whine like Mick. No Mick X does not exsist, but we are not going to complain like you because we are Xavier and thats the Xavier way.

Mick will forever be known as a bitch and a whiner. Schedule like a second-class team in a conference, and you're going to be treated as such. Look at the posts on that, most of them are clamoring for Mick to just shut up.

As they are currently tied for 8th in the BigLeast, I thought last year's comment from Lunardi about Cronin's whining might still be approrpiate:
"Now I don't know Cronin, and he appears to be doing a terrific job of keeping his Bearcats more than competitive in the hellacious Big East. But I would politely suggest that he keep his eye on the ball...."
"... but I can tell you that, as a credential for selection, "We're in eighth place in the Big East" is irrelevant..."

Mick Cronin is a weasel. When he yells how they get no respect, it forces people to look at their mediocre season. They don't deserve any respect. They will probably go .500 in conference play. Don't pitch a tent in your pants about that Mick.
Has he ever had a winning season in the Big East?

Well this informational story may explain a lot to Mick:

I hope UC extends him after the season and they may do that since an NCAA bid is almost a sure thing. Hope UD adds a few years to Gregory as well.

Mick is a whiny little weasel...Who gives a $hi^ if you are 8th place in the BE? Have you done anything yet Mick? You could collapse and go to the NIT...People will talk about you IF you make the NCAA's and win a game to advance...Until then STOP CRYING.

I'm sure no one would mention it until they were more than a couple of beers deep...but the other coaches in the area (and in that conference) have got to despise this guy.

Heck no, they don't need any beers to mention it.
Mack last year: "When we lose, we make NO excuses. Improve not blame. Some don't get it."
Miller last year: "I came from this area where there was a coach where I was the last five years. Every time he lost he talked about how young his team was. When he won, he would never talk about how young his team was..."

I was flipping through AM and landed on 700, and caught 30 seconds of Micks show...he was talking about the competition, and said Rutgers would win most leagues, and come in 3rd in the ACC....how does this jack waggon say this sh!t with a straight face...or not get slapped immediately by who is with him to make sure he's not talking in his sleep. Rutgers....got beat by St. Joes....13-13...okey dokey....
That completed the only 30 seconds I will ever listen to that ginger midget.

He is such an idiot I think you should prescribe listening to his radio show for people diagnosed with serious depression. It is comedy that heals your soul.

Ok. So I've taken some time to think things over, and I honestly know how to describe Mick that isn't animal in nature (though, I certainly agree with the weasel comments).
You know that kid that tries to hang out with the cool kids in 3rd grade? He's awkward, left out a lot, and when he's around them, he gets picked on more than anything? Thats Mick Cronin.
Whenever he does something right, he immediately tells the world and tries to get credit for it. He'll make it seem harder than what it was ("Rutgers could finish 3rd in the ACC") to earn more attention than what he was previously getting.
Whenever something goes wrong, he plays it off as if things were out of his control. There were extraordinary outside factors that made it impossible for him to do things right ("THE players didn't listen to me", "The officials decided not to call thins our way", "Well, if we were in the A-10 we'd win the league").
Whenever the cool kids (Syracuse, Georgetown, UConn, Nova, ND, etc) let some other awkward kids come hang out with them (St. John's), Mick gets upset, thinking he's cooler than the other kid, and starts to whine and complain more, despite the fact that he's got his head shoved so far up his own ass, he can't see that no one wants to hang out with this guy:
http://www.geetarz.org/funniez/pics/head-up-ass.jpg
Furthermore, he goes to anyone who would listen (sometimes his parents/major media) and complain that he doesn't get the respect or attention for all of his hard work. When they won't listen, he goes to his diary (UC blog).
In summation, Mick Cronin is that awkward third grader who doesn't have any friends, alienates himself from others, and has his head shoved so far up his ass, he cannot figure out why in the world no one likes him. I would like to thank this arrogant douche-schnozzle for making me and countless others look far more mature, intelligent, and respectable when compared to this asshat.

trying to avoid all this UC, I just read his little hissy fit (boring morning)
His complaint is that he is not in the Big East commercial?????
What decent coach, in his right mind, would give a big pile of shit whether he's in the a commercial or not???
Xaveriana, love the green guy, awesome work.
STL XUfan love the little golden book.
You guys are awesome!

He's Uriah Heep from David Copperfield. Note the physical description:
[Uriah's face] was quite as cadaverous as it had looked in the window, though in the grain of it there was that tinge of red which is sometimes to be observed in the skins of red-haired people. It belonged to a red-haired person—a youth of fifteen, as I take it now, but looking much older—whose hair was cropped as close as the closest stubble; who had hardly any eyebrows, and no eyelashes, and eyes of a red-brown, so unsheltered and unshaded, that I remember wondering how he went to sleep.
And, as described (accurately, in my opinion) by Wikipedia:
The character is notable for his cloying humility, obsequiousness, and insincerity, making frequent references to his own "'umbleness".

Sorry Kahns, the man is keeping me down to. HAs anybody figured out how many people you have to "spread it around to" before you can rep again?
Anyway, it was either the NCAA tournament, or maybe they film the Big East Commercial durign the Big East tourney Elite Eight?

All that was mostly just coach speak. He did have a point on some of that stuff too. I also don't see how anyone can say he is doing a poor job this year. Did anyone have UC as even an NIT contender at the beginning of the season? Or even winning 6 games in the conference? I'll take some heat for this, but he has done a pretty decent job this year. SOS aside, they have managed to beat every team they should have beaten. How many teams can say that?

I'm sure some UC fans would dispute that. Personally, I don't care what kind of a job he does, I just get tired of him making excuses and wanting exception for playing in the Big East, while painting Xavier’s success as underwhelming due to the heat he feels. That's what UC signed up for...they also signed up for firing Bob Huggins, and taking their chances with Mick. Since then, Mick has excused his poor performance on what he inherited and being in a tough league....and keep in mind, to gain credit and success in that league, you have to do a bit more than "beat teams you should on your schedule."
Bob Huggins left in 2005.....they haven't been to the tourney since, and somehow Mick is asking that it's excused.
Jim O'Brien left Ohio State in 2004, and That Matta's first team was INELIGIBLE from post season play. He's managed to recruit since then, been to 4 NCAA tournaments including a final 4, while playing in arguably an equitable league.
With examples like this, it is no wonder why fans who live in Ohio aren't buying what Mick is continuing to sell. Folks expect to win, and win now....or maybe even within the first 5 years. And if you don't, "Rutgers would win the A10" as your defense should get you fired.
