PATIENCE TESTED, or FURY UNBOUND?
By WKRQ59

Normally I don't like to write immediately after a game. But Wednesday night's victory at St. Joseph over the Hawks, not only tested my patience, it so infuriated me, that this is a must.

First, a victory is a victory, by 20 points against a very young team coached by a man whom over 40 years of watching the game of basketball, I have come to admire and respect. There are coaches and then there are real coaches, teachers. Phil Martelli is a real coach, a teacher.

To this day I can not forget his expressed unhappiness in his post-game press conference years ago when the Xavier crowd booed their own players and coaches, who would later hand the Hawks a terrible beating in the A10 tourney in Dayton. I'll also continue to chuckle at the memory of his post-game comments in Stanley Burrell's senior year and his promise to come to the XU commencement ceremonies to make sure Burrell graduated.

But this is not to be a tribute to Phil Martelli. Instead I will take this opportunity to ask a few questions of officials Bryan Kersey, Larry Scirotto and Jeff Albright.

Gentlemen, and since I know none of you personally, “Are you out of your minds, if you have any?” (read more here (http://www.xavierhoops.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17851))
