After the rage has subsided, I have to say, good for Duquesne. They are showing some promise as being a viable member of this league and one that can add some value.

Great scene yesterday. Quality arena only a block from campus, super crowd, and a team that is, at least, representative. Greg Amodio is pulling them up from the dumps. There are positives there that can be built upon.

Not so with LaSuck, which adds no value as the 3rd wheel in Philly and cannot get out of its own way. I've heard the same thing from Explorer fan for 15 years- "just give us a little more time." Screw them. Outzee.

And F-m is about on it's last chance. No one in New York cares about them and they're playing games in New Jersey where people even care less. Nice gathering yesterday- 1,573 in a 20,000 seat building. Way to represent. Again, lots of talk, no results.

But I digress. Good for Duquesne. A strong presence in Pittsburgh will help this league immensely- as would a few wins over Pitt.

Or even Robert Morris.

Did Duquesne's playstyle and season remind anyone of Prosser's trapping Xavier teams?

I hope LossSalle fans and administrators or going "oh, great" today, having witnessed Duquesne in a top-shelf facility with over 10k fans and the league lead on the line.

3rd team in Philly. Really? Did Temple's old bug-eyed coach have that much pull with the league, and did league management not understand the idiocy of allowing a weak program and one that was going to make 3 in one town - a pro town at that - in the conference?

LossSalle and Ford*ham. Restructuring of any kind can't come soon enough.

Perhaps Fordham only rented the court and the bottom 5 rows all the way around the court of IZOD Center. Thus able to claim a sell out at 1,500!

Am I mistaken in thinking Rose Hill Gym seats more than 1,573?

This was the kind of brain dead move that makes you facepalm. Problem: Attendance is low at games. Solution: Rent a bigger facility. Challenge: But we don't sell out the on campus and convenient facility we already own. Response: "Rent it and they will come"

Usually when you rent a larger facility its because you can't accomodate the desired crowd level in your own facility. (See CONSOL rental)

What's next for Fordham, renting the Carrier Dome from Syracuse and putting in their media guide. "We play in a 50,000 seat arena*" (Look at page 2536 in size 1 font, in script (*average attendance at those games: 542, all in one center court section)

I hope RonEverhart stays at Duquesne for a while. I think he is a good coach that is playing an exciting style of basketball. Having good coaches at schools like Duquesne is a good step to make those schools more competitive. Would also be nice if Mooney stayed at Richmond.

X2.

But in the best Steve Lappas tradition, Derek Kellogg and "Doctor" Gianinni can leave the facility as soon as possible.

This all begs the question, would the A10 brass ever consider contracting two schools (for purposes of this argument, Fordham and LaSalle)?

contraction would certainly help eliminate some of the bottom RPI numbers, but it still hasn't burned Xavier, so I don't think it really matters for X if anyone is contracted.

Fordham is worthless. Their shittiness negates any sort of presence we get in NYC. I'd rather play a good team in Buffalo than a crappy team in NYC.

Does anyone know what happened to Melquan Bolding? I thought he was supposed to be a junior on Duquesne this season. He was pretty good.

He transferred before the season. Not sure why.

He transferred to Fairleigh Dickinson, and is sitting out the year ...

Getting back to "contraction" ---

Both LaSalle and Fordham have been complete washouts during their current 15+year tenure in the A-10. They do not belong in a league of this quality. Furthermore, by contracting down to 12 teams in two 6-team divisions, we can go back to a much better situation of "pod-lessness" that would have us play each team in our own division twice and each team in the other division once for our 16-game Conference season.
