This is in Lances twitter feed. He does know they lost to Fordham as well right??? What a tool. Does he really get a vote??
My top 24 filled out. Quiet week in the rankings means only one slot available. eciding between Xavier and St. John's. (Cue Jeopardy music.) 28 minutes ago · reply
I've decided. It wasn't as close as I thought. My No. 25 is....St. John's. Much better wins, and St. Bonaventure loss not as bad as u think. 18 minutes ago · reply

Lance was just retweeting that. That was Seth Davis who said that I believe...

Seth Davis is, well, a moron.
But St. John's HAS been on fire.

Seth Davis always picks against Xavier when he picks his scores, he's a douche too.
I agree that St. John's has better wins than Xavier, but they've lost nine games. Teams with nine losses don't belong in the top 25 mid-February.

Here is a nice write up on why the Big East is overrated:
http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2011/02/13/ncaa-tournament-assessing-which-conferences-have-over-and-underperformed/
Basically they don't win as many games in the tourney as they should.

The media overhyping of Big East basketball is worst in sports. Big East hasn't won a title since 2004. Just three titles since 1986.
This also explains why the Big East is overrated. People talk about the SEC in football all the time. Sure it gets a little annoying but the SEC backs it up by winning BCS championships. The Big East can't claim that.

Maybe these guys would like to take a number with Jay Bilas to bite me.

I agree. Plus they lost to Fordham. Teams that lose to Fordham also don't belong in the Top 25.
SJU has some big wins this year and will be a tough out the rest of the season for anyone that has to play them but they are not one of the best 25 team in college basketball.
The best thing about SJU is if they continue to improve this year and going forward, they become yet another team UC has to climb past in their ever difficult climb back to relevancy in college basketball.

Fordham has more big east wins than A-10 wins.

Love this quote. Props. And by the way, St.John's is 0-2 vs the A10. They lost to the Boners as well.

I'm with you!
Lance has been very fair to Xavier lately -- he was truly ticked off that Tu wasn't a Cousy finalist. First chance someone has to lose their mind over him, INACCURATELY I may add, they do. What a joke.
By the way, if you can't figure out Twitter and the difference between a tweet and a re-tweet....ask for help (from an 8 year old).
Lance is a tool.
That is all.

I also want to point out, in Lance's defense, that that tweet was taken out of context. He did not retweet it to point out Seth Davis was going to rank SJU over X just out of the blue. He retweeted a tweet from Davis saying that the #25 spot was down to X and SJU. Lance ALWAYS retweets things about X or UC from national writers (so his followers can see them). This tweet was Seth Davis' follow up tweet, and I am sure Lance only retweeted it so that his followers could get an answer to the first tweet.
Wow, we really will look for ANYTHING to get pissed off about around here won't we?

Are we not allowed to get pissed off at anything? Is that better?
SJU is having a good year. By SJU standards.
But they are 5-5 in their last ten games. They did a fantastic job of beating Duke. They have also split with UC.
They also have nine loses.
Nine.
On the other hand, we are 9-1 in the last ten games. Our last five games, four of them were on the road. We went 3-1.
Should I not get upset that we don't get a benefit of the doubt, but SJU does, because well, they beat UC? Cause that's pretty much what happened.
They didn't get ranked because they beat Duke. Know why? Because that pushed their record to 12-8. That are 15-9 since then.
Xavier fans should never get pissed about anything ever again.

Do people also realize that we have lost five games in the month of February since 2007?
Why should we not get the benefit of the doubt in getting ranked in some made up poll?
