Looks like Charlotte is going to lose. They are down by 9 with less than a minute to go. Freaking typical. The A10 should send a memo to everyone and let them know if they would play a majority of their games with the intensity and effort they do against X it would benefit the whole league. Good grief.

and the Temple fans bust out the "I believe that we will win" chant (see Utah State thread) - well after the win was pretty much cemented.
Not much of an expression of faith when you start that up 10 with less than a minute left.
They must have left the "Winning team, losing team" script behind in the dorm.

Anyone who counted on Charlotte to carry some weight after beating us needs a firm shaking.
That loss will never be a redeeming one. That's what made it so frustrating.

I started laughing when I heard them chanting that. Maybe they have chanted that before, but today was the first time they had more than 20 students at a game.

Classy.
We've been chanting that for at least 5 years now.

That doesn't necessarily make what he said wrong.

Dukes down 4 at start of 2nd half. LaSuck blew halftime lead and is going down to Dayton. How does the good Dr keep his job?

Dukes up 58-54 at the 2:24 mark; St. Joe's is up on UMass 50-44 with about 6 minutes to play. This could be a disastrous week for the Premature Ejaculators.
bonnies up 3 with 39.9 !!!

While I am happy that we are back a top the A-10; I kind of wished the Dukes would only trip up against some of the upper echelon teams of the A-10 to make our ass kicking we are going to lay on them look better.

You know the Dukes have arrived when the opponents are storming the floor because of a win over the Mighty Dukes.
Imagine having to brood over that for a whole week.

That was a fantastic finish. I'll tell you what, the Dukes look very quick and athletic. They were getting to the rim at will. Gonna be a tough one a week from tomorrow.

Bonnies WIN!
It was in their control for the last short stretch, but the Dukes moved ahead with about 2 seconds left. Bonnies travel the full length of the court and Michael Davenport (of Cincinnati) hits a game winning 3 pointer in spectacular fashion.
I'm guessing the Dukes didn't want to foul there, but I thought the defense was sort of off for such a critical play. Fun game to watch at the close, as they were really hitting some great shots.
Too bad they are in a high school gym while doing it. Surprisingly, the crowd rushed the floor. The Dukes aren't ranked, right? I guess knocking off the conference number 1 is good enough.

The Dukes are not very smart though and that is why they suck in close games. They also will not play a zone so that is good. That Bill Clark seems like a bit of a head case as well. He kept yelling at the coach and hitting his clip board. Frease and Jamel should dominate the inside but Frease may have a problem guarding them. But Georgia is next so lets worry about the Dukes starting Wednesday.

Agree and disagree. I streamed the game at home by myself. Ya ya whatever. The dukes play aggressive basketball at all times and aren't really sure of when do scale down the aggressiveness, which is what caused them to get burned on a couple of critical plays down the stretch on defense. Couple that with the fact that they haven't played many close games this year, especially in A10 play, and it was a perfect storm for a bad loss. How will they respond? Like you said, Bill Clark didn't look too happy in the huddles.
Secondly, the dukes did play some zone and it was ravenous much like their man-to-man. The players they have are quick, move well together in the zone, and absolutely attack any player that gets the ball on the block in order to hide their lack of size. So, with the personnel they have, they play an aggressive style of defense that prides itself on forcing mistakes, which they did tonight. However, the dukes looked pretty sloppy themselves (not valuing the possession because they get so many). Kenny and Jamel will have to move the ball well out of double/triple teams to open wing players who must dribble, pass, or shoot with intent. The dukes thrive off of indecisive dribbling and passing, leading to many turnovers and transition buckets. But, because the defense is so aggressive, a quick moving, assertive offense can really hurt the dukes.
What does all this mean? The dukes are prone to hard ball fakes, offensive rebounds, and good guard play. St. Bona had many shots blocked and did not use ball fakes on the perimeter or inside to get that defense moving, whether in a zone or man. The St. Bona guards did not handle the man-man pressure well at all, but made enough shots to cancel out their mistakes. I expect Tu, Mark, and Dante to handle the pressure better than any other guards in this conference.
Finally, Georgia comes first. Let's get that win first. :logo:

Using your logic, I suspect a Duquesne can say the same thing about X after they lost to Charlotte.
