Another player leaving............

I have no idea how Martelli can survive all this. It's a deep hole he has dug there. Frankly, though I give them credit for investing in their facility, I also have to ding them for thinking too small as far as that renovation goes.
It is almost unforgivable for that program to not have leveraged its E8 run.
I always liked Phil Martelli and Phil Martelli always seemed to express great admiration for Xavier, but in appears to be time for new blood on Hawk Hill.

Actually, it looks like Crosgile is just having personal issues and could return before the end of the season.
But yeah, I agree about the hole they've dug themselves. I like Phil, but I'm wondering now if he just lucked into Jameer, Delonte, etc. His recruiting has been quite bad since then. Given the last 2 years they've had, Phil should definitely be on the hot seat.

This just in: The Hawk seen checking into ICU at the Philly Veterinarian Hospital.
Seriously, what a nose dive that program has taken. I remember it wasn't that long ago I would see St. Joe's on the schedule and go "Here comes a hard close fought game"
Memories of "Is anybody here from the Xavier Adminstration? What day is graduation? I want to be here to make sure that <blankity blank> Stanley Burrel graduates. Every <blankey blank> game he comes out of nowhere to beat us" or something like that.

Phil lost Matt Brady and Mike Rice shortly after that Elite 8 run in 2004.
The guys he has replaced them with have no been up to par in my mind.
I'm not sure how much longer Martelli has. But to me, not making the A-10 tournament is completely unacceptable.

CJ Aiken was a good recruit

Also, since Jameer Nelson, Phill has coached two A-10 POY in Pat Carroll and Ahmad Nivins.
What stinks however is they haven't won the conference since 2005 and haven't been to the tournament since 2008 and will most likely miss the A-10 tournament.
That to me is telling. Of course, when he had Nivins they weren't that good.

Yet more evidence of how astounding what Xavier has accomplished and maintained over the last 28 years

It must be bad when another fan base is calling for your head.

The Bald Lion in Winter.
I lament the loss of St. Joseph's as our rival. From the days of Marvin O'Connor (good Irish lad) through The Pat Calathes Era, those were red letter games on the calendar. Those epic battles for the better part of a decade were the best this conference had to offer.
For all the wet blanket Adrians yelling 'You can't win!', the Hawk will pick itself up off the mat and in true Philadelphia style pound its way to glory with feathered grit and determination.
