Out at MSNBC. Couldn't happen to a bigger jackass. Well, now instead of the studioo version of drop and bend over, he can go over to the White House and do it for real.

I loved him. I'm sad he's gone. I'm not real certain what you mean by your comments, but I wish him the best.

I'm so heartbroken over this.
One of the most unlikable media figures will be off TV for a while. Just terrible stuff.

Let's just say I think Olbermann would gladly play the watermelon.

Gone? He's going to be all over the place now. You're not going to be able to turn on the TV without seeing that jackass.

I'm sad for you, Waggy. Why do you feel the need to make homosexual jokes?

Would be wrong to say Olbermann needs to take it like a man?

I heard the Nytimes media guy say that he won't be able appear on TV for likely a year due to the contract.

He can't be a guest on Piers Morgan's show? And Letterman? And Leno? And Crossfire? And every other show that will have him as a guest?

I really don't think so.
He can be on radio.
it's a non-compete component. Conan had the same thing. he had to attract press attention by going on tour and twitter. But he could never go on tv as a guest.
edit: Conan did have one 60 minutes interview many months after he was fired. Not sure how he managed that.

Glad to see envy like a dirty flame blackens all that it cannot reach.
Damn shame but speaking in admiration of someone who with Dan Patrick helped make ESPN Sunday night Sports Center a cornerstone of that network's programming, isn't too popular on either of these blogs. Oh well, I always compared him to Will Rogers and I'll definitely miss his wit and talent.

I really liked him when he did the sports on ESPN. Maybe he can go back to that while he's on his hiatus.

I'm envious of the success and fortune of plenty of people. I don't think all of those people are pompous gasbags.

Olbermann should have stuck to sports, where he was witty and likable.
His political commentary made him as unlikable as Bill O'Reilly. If Olbermann and O'Reilly were never to appear on TV again, the world would be better for it.

q, Olberman and Patrick were the best show on television when they did Sports Center. Everyone on there since those guys (and Kilborn and Steiner) are basically trying to do Olberman and Patrick.
I don't watch hardly any of the political commentary shows. But I can tell you, that the few times I've stopped at Olberman's show it's been nothing but mean-spirited half-truths that pander to the lowest common denominator. What O'Reilly and Beck are to the right he and Maddow are to the left. None of really helps, and it's not really entertaining. Add to that Olberman's pompous attitude and enormous ego and I really don't mind that he's off the air.

I would love to hear him team up with Dan Patrick again on the radio. Patrick is one of the few halfway intelligent shows on national sports talk radio and Olbermann would only help (if they didn't kill each other).

X2. I liked him at ESPN, couldn't stand his mean spirited "gotcha" type commentary at MSNBC. I'm not going to say I'm glad he's gone, but I sure won't miss him. No if we could get Oreilly or Rush to follow suit...
I HATE dayton.

Comparing Rachel Maddow to Olbermann is profoundly unfair. Olbermann is a bomb-thrower, the equivalent of Beck. Maddow is a Rhodes scholar, is willing to engage with her political adversaries, and her show is generally respectful and thoughtful. Just because she has a viewpoint (that you may not like) doesn't make her an arrogant, loudmouthed prick like Olbermann was at times.

The right still has 4 high rating mongerers (O', Hannity, Rush, Beck) and now the left is back to zero. This is something the right is just better at. I think that attitude sits better with Republicans in general. I couldn't watch Olberman or MSNBC/Fox News in general. I guess what CNN does is considered boring, but I far prefer (and always have) to get my news there. Anderson Cooper just doesn't have a high enough level of hatred to do what those guys do. If Lou Dobbs would have focused on more than one single issue I think he would have been pretty strong as well. Lou literally lasted years discussing one issue. It was insane. Whenever he discussed other things he was bearable.
I'm just glad they didn't move AC into Larry King's chair. That timeslot is some brutal TV.
