I wanted to put this in a place where most would see it.
Doug Steiner is XU's Golf Coach and is doing a phenomenal job with the program. A couple of years ago, XU was ranked in the Top 20 programs in Collegiate Golf by Golf Digest magazine. As you can imagine, it is not easy recruiting to a cold weather city like Cincinnati, and even harder for the kids he gets to keep their edge from November to March.
As a result, Doug is in the middle of trying to raise funds for an all weather workout and practice facility in conjunction with Maketewah Country Club. The facility will be a million dollar deal and Doug is more than half way there. There are all kinds of levels of contribution, but anything would be appreciated.
I also know that many already give a ton in many ways to Xavier, but even a small donation would help this project along. It is making a difference to recruits. I have a kid who I know who is an outstanding player up here at St. Ignatius who is now in contact with Doug. This kid is being recruited by sun belt programs, but the all weather facility is helping turn him toward Xavier.
Doug's e-mail at XU is steiner@xavier.edu if you want more info.
I would highly encourage everyone to contribute something to this worthy cause.
