Listening in to the best play by play man I've heard in a long long time

Beginning of the game, XU scoring easy, sounds like an all but empty arena on a snowy day in Philly.

Why are they playing at 1PM on a Wednesday?

This was to be a "youth day" for st joes, but the snow cancelled that. It was to be a noon game but shifted back to 1pm after the snow forecast was evident.

X trying to shoot from deep, not getting it done, 2-13 from 3 point range,


St Joes took a 1 point lead into the half. 31-30 thanks to a 30+ foot 3 pointer with about a minute to go.
X's shooting touch has gone cold. About 20 points in the 1st 10 minutes, 10 in the next 10.

Very nice second half. They really needed to bust out of that shooting slump.

The defense must have really keyed on Amber Harris - she did not get her points until late but dished out 7 assists along the way. Nice job by her teammates picking her up - especially monster 20 & 17 game from Ta'Shia Phillips and 17 from Tyeasha Moss. Amber still finished with a double-double (11-11-7).

Just as well their Youth Day was cancelled - imagine the little future Hawks would have been scarred for life seeing that second half. (If the final score is any indication as compared to the halftme score). They may have needed extra time with the Hawk to help calm them down.

Then again the youth of Philly may already be mentally scarred - a mascot that does nothing but flap its wings. Poor Johny goes to shake talons and gets whapped upside the head. :)

It's commonplace for women's games to have early tipoff times because of these youth games - Xavier has done this for about 5-6 years and they get decent crowds (albeit mostly kids). And once in a while, CBS College Sports will do live telecasts of these games.

Good win against a team that has had a pretty good season so far. And in their gym. It took a while to get going, but once the X train started rolling, it was impossible for the Hawks to stop. Great game by Moss. X becomes 100 times more dangerous when she is playing well offensively.

Harris with a line of 11 pts, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. Wow. We really are spoiled by her.
