It wasn't just Donovan - that was almost his entire STAFF at one point that experienced the death of an infant child at one time or another. And Pitino did offer some excellent advice for Donovan - don't let it cause any rift in the family from a personal standpoint.
If you don't see the article, former Gator assistants Anthony Grant (Alabama HC) and John Pelphrey (Arkansas HC) also had infants die when their wives were in labor.

This just reiterates that there is so much more to life than sports and work. To the outside world Bill D. looks like he has it all; professional success, money, etc. But, in the end the only thing that matters is family and faith.

Wow! That's very difficult to read. Very moving.
I still remember the day that my wife and I lost our first baby like it was yesterday. I remember the excitement we felt the day we discovered she was pregant, and the joy of letting our family and friends know a few months later that "we were expecting."
We had tried for years with no luck and now it was really happening.
I was gonna be a Dad. I've been extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to do a lot of things in my life but this would be the single most important title and role I could ever take.
I never expected to lose our baby. I remember when the doctor said the heart was no longer beating. I remember wondering why? Why us? Why now? I remember wondering if we'd ever have a child of our own. It was a question that wasn't answered until several years later.
We're now very blessed to have 3 terrific little girls.
But I'll always wonder what our fourth, our oldest, would be doing if alive today.

as a father who has lost his wife and two children before they were born, that is always tough to read. i'm greatful everyday my wife was able to give me one child. she is now 13 and is what gives me strength to get up each day. to anyone else who has lost children no matter before or after birth God Bless.
