So lets focus on what is important shall we? No one on this site is even remotely attracted to a member of the opposite sex that resembles either of these disgusting, street trash, addicted to meth losers.

If you know anyone that currently goes to, has ever had a positive thought in regards to, knows an 'athlete' at, or sent their children, to the University of Cincinnati, slash their f'ing tires in my honor.
The last 2 months did not happen. But this Thursday will. And we get to beat the Clifton piece of trash losers back to reality with a baseball bad filled with lead.
Honestly why am I not finding a thread already 2 pages long on this?
Our f'ing city. No reloading. No rebuilding. Lets do this.

Exactly! Everyone is too busy bitching to remember that, oh yeah, we play CINCINNATI this week.
Everyone, get off your self-riteous high horse and let's get this place swirling with the hatred and pure venom that we saw last year when we played the, rather humourously, RANKED bearcats last year.
I'm with CinciX when I say that when you curse at a Bearcat alum, or drop-kick a newborn child of a UC graduate, smile at them and say, "You suck!" :)
Let's make sure that once again, the crotch of Cincinnati and the Clifton bastards know exactly what hit them this Thursday. I LOATHE sUCk.

Funny thing is, sUCks will probably be ranked again when we play them.
I'm arguing with this bonehead over on rivals who thinks they have played a tougher schedule than us. Talk about UD fans being delusional. This guy is making UD fans look like genuises.
Something about that couple up their doesn't fit. Hmmmmm... I just can't put a finger on it.

I found this incredible (I posted it in the other thread) in the Smack Talk. From Lance's Blog:
CBS Sports
Cincinnati, which is 14-0 and has two Big East wins already, is way down at 69th in the RPI this morning. That's a stunning number. I've been tracking RPI since 1993-94 and could not find a 14-0 team that far down. The last undefeated team on New Year's Day that far down in the rankings was Texas A&M in 2006 (95th at 10-0).
When you play a schedule like that, you are basically saying that you intend to make your case for the tournament in conference. That means not just muddling through, but doing very well. Cincinnati probably needs at least 12 wins, and even that may not do it for them. They cannot afford to be anywhere near the bottom of the at-large pool with a non-conference schedule that bad.

Agreed on the must win. X really needed to get the Florida game or the UC game. We do have a quality non-conference win in Butler under our belts, but it would really look good for the resume if we could get this one also.

Any road win is a good win in my book. Xavier needs to keep the turnovers to a minimum, I thought they did a great job in the Florida game of protecting the ball. (besides though two straight botched breakaways)

Would you call it ironic that the street signs directing one to Xavier University also point towards the Cincinnati Zoo? Xavier women are so ugly that just being on that campus brings back childhood memories of the petting zoo, that time the cow licked my face.
The ironic thing is that the Cincinnati Zoo is in fact closer to UC than Xavier. Go ahead look it up...that is, if you know how.

UC fans are claiming that they have already passed us as a program and are king of the town. They keep bringing up that final four they went to 20 years ago and the two national championships they won 50 years ago. Are all UC fans this dumb? Do they truely believe they are a better program than X?
Don't act like XU has passed UC as a program, especially when using 25 years as the barometer. When you play in that joke of conference, you'll never be a legit, major program. Period. (I'm sorry, not being rude, but stating what I feel as fact)
The Shootout is almost always a good game, and yes, X has had the best of over quite some time. In no way, does that even make them remotely close as far as who had the better program the last 20 years. Get back to me when you make a Final Four. They'll say, well we made an Elite 8 in that span. We made 2. Get back to me when you have a player on the cover of SI. Get back to me when you make 14 straight tourneys. Get back to me when you have the #1 overall pick, or MULTIPLE lottery picks. Get back to me when you have a coach rack up 399 wins at your program. (Better yet can one make it to 150 without leaving for a BETTER gig?) Get back to me when you are a 1 seed. 2 seed. Get back to me when your ranked in the top 10. EVER. Get back to me when you play 13 top 40 teams in conference. Get back to me when you play 6 top 10 teams in conference. Get back to me when you sign a McDAA, or how about a simple 5 star player. Get back to me when more than 10% of the US population can pronounce your name correctly.
UC doesn't need to pass X as program. They're always are, and always have been, ahead. Sure, we had some down years but given the circumstances that was expected. Funny thing, we have our worst 5 consecutive years in over 3 decades, and you coincidently probably have your best, and we still get top billing in the local newspaper, blogs, radio shows. How/why is that?

This is a bizarre post on multiple fronts, not to mention that the poster has seemingly done zero fact checking:
Contrary to that post, Xavier has also made multiple Elite Eights during that span, having made 2 appearances in just the past 7 seasons.
Contrary to that post, Xavier has received a Top 10 ranking – when it counted most – finishing 8th in 2008’s final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
Contrary to that post, Xavier HAS had multiple lottery picks (Tyrone Hill and Brian Grant) in the past 25 years.
The post also claims that UC has had multiple NBA lottery picks. I may be wrong but I don’t believe that is correct. I believe Kenyon Martin is their only lottery pick. So Xavier actually has more NBA lottery picks than UC. Kinda strange to choose a metric where you are actually behind.
It's also worth noting that Kenyon Martin’s POY and #1 draft pick came in an absolutely horrendous year for NBA-ready players in college. That entire draft class had made only three NBA All-Star appearances EVER (Martin, Magloire and Redd), with no player from that draft class ever making the All-Star team more than once.
Compare that to David West’s POY season and subsequent NBA Draft class, where players have already had 25 All-Star appearances, including more All-Star appearance from Xavier's David West than any single player from Kenyon Martin’s entire 2000 NBA Draft. Also notice who has had the better NBA career.
It's also worth noting that although Xavier hasn’t signed a McDAA to an LOI out of high school, as the post correctly states, Xavier has had a McDAA in Drew Lavender.
Regarding the point about a coach having 399 wins, I’m not sure anyone should really care how many games an individual coach has won. They should care, however, about how many games my team has won. That point made me laugh.
Contrary to that post’s claim that “we have our worst 5 consecutive years in over 3 decades,” UC has had no fewer than eight 5-year spans that were worse during that span. UC actually has a winning record (82-81) over the past five seasons. They had eight consecutive losing 5-year spans from the seasons ending in 1983 through 1990. I guess that alone makes him wrong times 8.
That point was meant to imply that UC has been great over those three decades, when in fact it has ONLY been great during Huggins’ tenure during that span.
It also leads one to believe that Huggins’ firing and the subsequent 5-year transition period is the only reason that has made UC inferior to XU. However, that isn’t true either.
Here is a comparison of Xavier’s past eight seasons (the post Prosser years) versus Huggs’ final eight seasons:
Xavier Past 8 Seasons:
NCAA Record: 12-7
Elite Eight Appearances: 2
Sweet Sixteen Appearances: 4
Huggins’ Final 8 Seasons at UC:
NCAA Record: 8-8
Elite Eight Appearances: ZERO
Sweet Sixteen Appearances: 1
In fact, Xavier’s past 8 teams accomplished more in the NCAA Tournament than Huggins’ final 12 seasons at UC:
Huggins’ Final 12 Seasons at UC:
NCAA Record: 13-12 versus 12-7 for XU
Elite Eight Appearances: 1 versus 2 for XU
Sweet Sixteen Appearances: 2 versus 4 for XU
Yeah, you're right, UC fan. You guys have been better for quite some time now.

My favorite argument by UC is always the conference affiliation. How is playing in the Big East really working out for UC? Xavier can play in the 30th rated conference for all I care if it meant going to multiple sweet 16's and Elite 8's and being ranked in the top 10.

Great. Remember when Donald Little tied his roomate to a chair and burned, errr, branded him with a coat hanger?
You know what else is great? Cheese' interview part Deux with Andy Mac.
Superb, work, my man.

It has gotten significantly better. Now I actually take the time to shower before classes because the ratio of ugly to attractive has gone to 3:2. Big time improvement since freshman year for sure lol.
But uc fans can continue to joke about things that we joke amongst one another if that gets them through the day. To each their own.

I work with three UC grads. Actually hired two of them. They are on pins and needles for this game. They have no faith in UC beating X They know that they have played no one so far and don't trust Mick to coach a good game.
I told them not to be too worried this year because X is struggling, especially on the road. They said, yeah right, we hear that every year and then UC loses. I assured them that this year is different, but they'll have none of it.
It is amazing how shell shocked UC fans have become over the past few years since Huggs left. For the record, these three hate Huggins, but liked the fact that at least they were a better team back then.
So we all walked away claiming no confidence in our respective teams. What it seems to come down to is not who will win this game, but who will lose it. It is going to take a game where X shoots at least 40% from three point land. Do you hear hear me Cheeks and Dante?

I agree vee, I see this as a game where we'll know in the first half if this team is focused and hitting their open shots. I expect to see some excellent intensity, with a focus on the prize - winning the f'ing Crosstown Shootout. None of this chippy shit, T's, flagrants, etc. Focus and stay intense. I'd love to see us control the whole game from tip to finish! That would be savory. If we fall out in the 2nd half (very likely we'll see a double digit deficit at some point), I believe we'll see a rerun of the Florida game - not good. But I think we can hold a 7 point lead at half time if we surprise them with better intensity - a trademark of XU's wins over UC...

This is fun!
In 10 true home games, UC has drawn 50,916 in attendance. The high point being against that powerhouse Depaul (who is now 6-8) with an attendance of (supposedly) 7,795. The low being against SAV (who the Hell is that?) 3,949.
In 7 true home games, X has drawn 70,515, with 4 (supposedly) being sold out.
The low being against WOF (9,562).
Who has the better fanbase? The little Jesuit school, with an undergrad number that is about 6 times smaller than UC? The school with a markedly smaller alumni base?
But Congratulations UC! Your first sellout this year will be for the BEST team you have played this year by far, Xavier.
Your fans are a joke. Your program and your OOC schedule makes me chuckle. And from here on out, you will be slapped around like a little red headed step child. You didn't learn anything from Boeheim and his weak scheduling OOC 2 or 3 years ago? Well you will, and the reality check is going to crush your spirits.

My favorite part of this post is how many times this obvious UC troll forgets what team he's supposed to be posing as a fan of.

Thor - it would be a hell of a thing to lose to you guys. Considering you lost to a d2 team at the beginning of the year and just saw Butler your only "quality win" get bitch slapped by University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee by 24 pts tonight.
Florida just took out Rhode Island by 25 BTW.
Temple is going to wear bags on their heads at the conference tournament and pretend they aren't affiliated with the Atlantic 10.
But this is really like old times isn't it? You already lost to FL and Temple will definitely be the last top 25 team and perhaps the last NCAA team on your schedule.

Seriously, I think it hilarious that you are back after going into years of hiding. You are a perfect representative of the University of Cincinnati.
This game is the first potential bright moment for you, yet again, before you enter the over-hyped, 52-team league that goes spans about 8,000 miles, that will once again sodomize the horribly-coached Bearcats over and over and over until they finally stumble back into their own league in the NIT or CBI.
I mean after a schedule like UC's so far, this is more than just their Super Bowl. This is their fucking one shot at an Olympic Gold metal. UC will not remember what a game against a winning basketball program feels like, since they haven't played one since last year, and will once again lose to that little school up the street, in front of their home fan.
I love the knocking on our schedule. As if you guys don't have a 324 SOS. But, at the end of the year, when your blind squirrel team ends up having one win against some massively overrated Big East team, like UConn, you morons will again be missing the dance and crying about how teams like us made it.
There is nothing more hilarious or pathetic than a fan of a program who truly doesn't realize that said program is literally an invisible ghost amongst the real world. A team that means nothing. A fan who has an image of that team, thinking that everyone respects it because of its conference and ancient history, when everyone outside his bubble actually doesn't even remember it exists anymore. That is UC basketball. A complete and utter nobody in the world of college hoops. Honestly, without this rivalry, nobody would even mention UC this year. You guys are in the top 25 and nobody has noticed outside SW Ohio. So in all honesty, with UC seeing its mirage of a decent season in front of their eyes, this is most certainly their most important game to date, and will set the tone for their inevitable freefall. Enjoy losing your most important game.

Why do they keep bringing up the weak A-10? First of all it's a top 8 conference which isn't that bad, It produces elite 8's what seems like a regular basis as of late. The Big East has done nothing for UC other than hand them an ass whoopin every game since they have joined. When UC makes the tournament on a consistent basis then come back here and talk crap but until that day, might be a long time, shut the hell up. My goodness UC fans have to be some of the dumbest people on this earth. I shouldn't lump them all into this category because the people that actually do graduate from UC are actually smart people. The problem is the uneducated, white trash who support the program. Please act like you have some sort of intelligence.

Hold on a minute. I think we are underestimating the strength of their achievement.
There are only 345 Division 1 basketball programs.
You really have to work at it to win 14 straight games and have a SOS of 324.
That's quite an accomplishment.

I watch both teams and would like to see both programs strong at the same time but I am guessing I am in the extreme minority at least when it comes to internet forums. Xavier appears to be slightly down this year but the future still looks bright. Cincy is ever so slowly crawling back from the gutting it took with the Huggins and Kennedy situation so it is a possibility in the next few years for both to have good showings in the tournament at the same time.
The shootout is almost always a thriller. It doesn't matter who the better team is. The other team almost always plays up in the game making it extremely hard to predict the winner.
This years matchup looks to be just as exciting. Cincinnati's depth versus Xavier's game changer in Holloway. The question of the game will be what Cincinnati will do to defend Holloway. Cash will struggle if he has to do the bulk of the work. They will likely throw a rotation of Cash, Davis, and Dixon at him and hope for the best. The game will likely come down to Frease. He has improved his play this year and if he gets into foul trouble, Cincinnati's depth will slowly overwhelm Xavier.
You make some good points but I cant agree with your draft comments. I am fairly certain that by multiple lottery picks the person meant multiple in the same year. Hill and Grant were drafted several years apart. In the 2000 draft, Martin was picked 1st overall (even in a down year still impressive with a broken leg) and Johnson was picked 6th overall with Mickeal as a late second rounder. A fairly good draft for UC even if it was a slightly down draft year.
Xavier has had 5 first rounders in its history (7 picks in 2nd round)
Cincinnati has had 12 first rounders in its history (12 picks in 2nd round)
Since lottery was initiated in 1985, Xavier has had 2 lottery picks (Hill and Grant) and Cincinnati has had 3 lottery picks(Fortson, Martin, Johnson) with 2 of those in the same year.
Here is a list of the 1st and 2nd round picks for both teams:

I thought that maybe this year, I had "matured". That this year, I'd be able to watch a game against that school across town without as much emotion, without as much passion, and, yes, without as much disgust for the opposition.
I thought for a while that this year may be different. That, maybe, what my Musketette Daughter had told me was now at fruition. She says that the real rivalry was now with udump and that the game against another school in town was just background music to the season. I was begining to believe that maybe all of the pompousness of the inbred, idiotic, imbecilic, ingrates over in Clifton didn't matter anymore. I was starting to feel as if maybe I had finally risen above their wanton stupidity in the knowledge that Xavier had reached a higher plane in the basketball world than the bungling blockheaded Bore-cats. I was wrong.
It is now 48 hours until a game against a jaundiced leprechaun and his minions. They have played a rogues gallery of a schedule and have avoided anything resembling a test like the plague. Well done in building up all wins against the 324th ranked schedule just to temporarily silence the ninnying goatheads that wear a clawed "c" on their chests, that show up to games dressed as empty seats. Way to make the pygmy puppet of a coach's record look better. Nice attempt in trying to curry favor with the already prejudiced in-town press. Their feeble attempts to regain relevancy has re-ignited my contempt for them and anything related to that trash-heap. Sorry. No respect nor props for a record built on gin games and counterfeit contests.
I have years of scars from these battles. I've witnessed abject screw-jobs that cost Xavier victories in both football and basketball. I've been the target of guffaws and verbal barbs thrown from fair-weather charlatans disguised as fans from the other side as everyone walked out of Cincinnati Gardens. I've felt the arrows of disrespect and neglect from the press in town that wanted Xaver to just dry up and blow away. Thank Gawd for Andy Mac and our own Q who stood strong in the face of the nattering nabobs of negativism and restored XU's rightful place in the 5th estate.
Maybe to the younger whippersnappers on this board, the cryers have now taken the primary role of villian. Not so for me. By the Ghost of BeelzeBob, those who prefer to wrap themselves in black cladding will always have been concieved in gehenna. They do not deserve to see the light of any success.
As such, the beard is growing, the voice is growling, the codpiece is in place, the beverages are cooling and the mind is warping. By the time 7:00pm Thursday arrives, a frothing at the mouth would have begun, a frothing that will only be satisfied by the blood of a bore-cat. I look forward once again to wearing my blue gear proudly and audibly snickering at the misguided tools that insist on wearing their black.
Blue is the color of Royalty.
Black is the color of nothing and nothing is what will be left in Clifton on Thursday night.
Believe it!!

This is UC 's year to shine in the NIT I say let them have it. the Big East is sooooo great that even if UC would go 02-16 they deserve an at large bid because the a-10 is so weak. X would be 14-0 with UC's schedule this year. UC will probably win THURS but X will bounce rt back in one year whereas UC will never win a conf title or make the NCAA ever again in the next 15 years. Screw UC go X
Make that 13-1 since both played Miami with different results.

I think it's time to remember that this is Shootout Week and not Frommer's online travel guide. Maybe we should have a 48-hour moratorium on those threads.

I was starting to feel as if maybe I had finally risen above their wanton stupidity....
Maybe to the younger whippersnappers on this board, the cryers have now taken the primary role of villian.
Rest assured, you will never rise above wanton stupidity.
Well, then, the whippersnappers need to nix that. UC is our rival (followed by Temple in conference). UC is a force of darkness to be vanquished by the fighting men of St. Francis Xavier. Dayton is a yapping, ankle-biting annoyance.

I'm confused. 5th/3rd Arena. Is that the address? Maybe that's why SucKS attendance is so low.
Those cretins can't figure out if it's on 5th or 3rd.
You would think that they could pick a number and stick with it.

and to further consfuse the issue - it was (and I think still is at least on some signage) - Shoemaker Center.
Maybe they think if they keep renaming it, it might change the luck of the program?
I know it was the Shoemaker Center for most or all of Thuggins tenure, when did it become 5th/3rd? Was that part of the 'purge every shread of Bob' they could. (Until they thought they could sell tickets by having a "Welcome Back Huggs" night") When you only get 5,000 a game you do have to come up with creative ways to bring fans into the building.
The good news for Xavier is: Xavier has never lost a game (men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball) when I have been drinking Warsteiner Dunkel. I skipped that during the Florida game, and you see what happened. If the Shoemaker Center beer vendors are at the same places they were for their IPFW game, there whould be a Warstenier Dunkel stand right at the foot of the stairs from my section. Advantage X! Of course the corollary isn't true - I switched to Guiness on Wake Forest night, and we still won...

We are now approaching 25 hours from tip.
-My head is filling with rage and emptying of every other thought or emotion.
-It's 5:53pm on 1/5/11 and SucKS
-Has the Yellow Toothed Gnome ever said anything to acknowledge Xavier's accomplishments? No. Rage is enhanced.
-It's 5:54pm on 1/5/11 and SucKS
-Nancy Gates will pull cheap crap to try to get Xavier to respond and get T'd up or kicked out. Rage further enhanced
-It's 5:55pm on 1/5/11 and SucKS.
-The Bore-cats have taken the Big Least RPI gaming philosophy to a new level. Rage increased more.
-It's 5:57pm on 1/5/11 and SucKS
-I'm haunted by the ghosts of SucKS games past- The Coiffed One, Hot Hanger Little, Nanny rapist Patterson, Blow Burton, Domestic Violence Stephenson. The rage over the blackness continues.
-It's 6:01pm on 1/5/11 and SucKS.
-The arrogance, the disrespect and the disparagement from the forces of evil to the southeast in town fuels added rage.
-It's 6:05pm on 1/5/11 and SucKS.
and on........and on..........I brood.......
Brother MOR!
I was wondering when Vesuvius would erupt again, when the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the Three Musketeers and the wrath of Odin would all emerge fully from the man cave to wreak havoc, and let loose the dogs of war. Oh hell my metaphors are slurred, but UNLOAD it, brother. They had it, have it, will have it coming.

T-Minus 7 hours.
I'm becoming blindly enraged. Here's a few things from the postgame posts after last year:

Mick’s postgame comments:
So, just for kicks. I decided to listen to 700 wlw after the game to hear their perspective. Wow. Micky is sure a cry baby. Twice he mentioned referee calls as an excuse as to why the weren't able to pull out the win. He said he was frustrated at how they called the game after both teams were tied. He then questioned another call against them in overtime.
Sack it up, man. There were crappy calls both ways. Be a man! BTW: Nancy Gates travels just about everytime he has the ball but he was called for only one walk. cheesehead

I guess that Sippin' Mick just ignored the fact that
A) Cahill protected "born ready" all night, even after he yapped at CMack directly. DBrown got thrown out of the game last year for less than that.
B) THolloway got literally thrown out of bounds near the end of the half and no call.
C)Dante almost had his arm ripped out of his socket and no intentional call.
D) JLove caught a Gates elbow right in his nose as he scored at the end and no call.
The Thuggery is back in Clifton and little punk Mickey is the perpertrator. Some call him "scrappy". I call him a whiney bitch.
It's 9:22am, December 14, 2009. And uc still SucKS! Masterofreality

I too listened to Cronin's post game. And yes, he is a whiner, just like Huggins was. He complained about the refereeing at the end of the game at least twice ("those calls at the end were tough to swallow"). And everything was UC's fault for not doing the things that Cronin taught them.
Not once did he give any credit to Xavier. Not once. And that should tell us a little about Cronin. XU 87
__________________________________________________ _
The entire interview came across as Cronin trying to explain that 1) He's a good coach and knows what he's doing 2) UC lost because his kids didn't listen to him or follow his instructions 3) the other reason UC lost is because the refs stole it from them at the end and 4) Xavier's kids are the ones who cause all the problems in this game.
It was really sort of pathetic. Most coaches have the decency to give the other team some credit. Not this guy. And most coaches don't try to shade the truth like he did. XU 87

Holloway gets thrown into the goal.
Larry Davis pretty much hooked Tutu and threw him out of bounds. Which makes it all the sweeter that Tutu shook it off and burned the kittens from the free throw line. Money. xubball93

Holloway was grabbed with two hands from behind and thrown out of bounds. we got the rebound. no doubt it should have been a technical foul - not even a close call. reinforces many justified stereotypes the jailcats have earned. Ref

Mick Cronin is the Lollipop Guild version of Bob Huggins. Both are just as whiny and do a good job of blowing the game in the last 3 minutes.
