DALLAS -- The son of an Atlanta Hawks assistant coach is accused of killing a man and dumping his body near a lake.
The victim, Bradley Bassey Eyo, 23, was found shot to death near Lake Ray Hubbard in Dallas on Dec. 26., authorities said. Authorities said Eyo was shot on George Brown Drive in Garland, Texas, and the body was dumped later.
On Wednesday, 20-year-old Nickey Van Exel, the son of the Hawks’ Nick Van Exel, was charged with capital murder in the case. He was jailed on $1 million bond.
Atlanta Hawks officials said their thoughts and prayers were with the Van Exels and other families involved.

I don't know why, but I always liked Nick Van Exel. What a disaster for him and his family...

He played at Cincinnati State last year and in the summer league this past summer. Messed up.

I agree with this. When I was younger I saw Van Exel play at Purcell Marian (I believe in one of the early Deveroe's years) and after the game approached him, being a little kid and all. He was super nice and signed my ball for me. He always stuck out as a UC player I rooted for, other than against X.

This sucks to hear, thoughts to his family but more importantly to the family and friends of the victim.

We have a 23 year-old who is dead, a 20 year-old who has essentially thrown his life away, two families grieving and you try to turn this tragic event into a punchline? Someone please remove this post as it's truly disgusting.

For once...I agree with you.

There are far more important things than any basketball rivalry. Sweet16 has it exactly right. I cannot imagine what both families are going through, and I pray that I never will have to.

Supposedly these two were best friends and it may have been an accident and he freaked out not knowing what to do. Either way this is a tragedy all the way around and was a result of stupidity.

Thanks to whomever removed the original post. Now how do we get rid of the reference to said post in mine. Can someone delete mine as well?

I think you can delete your own post - at a minimum you can edit it and take the quote out.
