View Full Version : Butler down 10 to UW-Milw
27-17 UWM with 4:30 left in 1st half on ESPNU.
It's tough to win on the road, although there is a lot of time left.

Conference play is always hard no matter who or what conference you are in.
ie. I think Memphis will lose in conference once this year.....maybe.
Oh and if Butler loses this game, how much you bet they would drop 5 spots, whereas a Big 6 team would drop maybe 2-3?
Since I posted that, Butler has gone on a 12-3 run to get within 1.
But to answer your question, yes, they would tank in the polls because losing to anyone in the Horizon would be seen as a "bad loss".

Their loss would be great for us in the polls...Also, #9 MSU is down 10 to Purdue with 16 to play

Damn, could you imagine if we had Matt Howard? That kid is really good.

Butler is not the #10 team in the nation tonight. They don't look so good.

Butler is going to squeak this one out.
But this is Xaviers chance to move up. Win X. Break the Top Ten.

Missed the one and one. UW-Mil came down and missed the shot. Butler gets the board and the foul. 5 secs left.

Purdue is for real! They have now won 10 in a row, and back to back wins against top 10 teams. Their lineup is mostly freshman and sophmores and they look like they have been playing together for years.
They are a very dangerous team right now.

And we have OT. Mil hits a huge 3. What a weird game.

Took about a minute to review UWM's last 3, but this one has been a good game so far.
Butler won't have Howard; he fouled out with about 5 minutes to go.

Butler is going to miss Howard, that is, if Wis Mil doesn't go crazy and all.

What was Wis-G doing there? 109 left, and no pressure bringing the ball up, with Butler having a 4 point lead. I cannot believe that, terrible, terrible coaching. Man up, force the issue.
Now Butler is up 6 with the ball and 38 sec to go. Game over.

Butler is a strange team. They have decent wins: Va. Tech, Texas Tech, OSU, and Fla. St. but they also have had really close calls vs. average teams: Wright St., So. Illinois, Cleveland St., Valpo, and UWGB. UWM just took Butler to overtime before collapsing. I'm not convinced about Butler; they haven't really impressed me for beign the "#10" team in the country.

Some could say some of the same things about XU this season.

Very true, but the A-10 is a better conference than the Horizion. I've seen several Butler games this year and they don't wow me at all.

Drake is no longer unbeaten in the Valley, but they've got a great BracketBusters matchup coming up with Butler later this month. It'll be interesting to see who wins that one.

I was actually at that Butler game. They played bad. It might have been a one game thing, but they were not a top 10 team that night. uwm really didn't play all that well. They couldn't finish anything.

I blame the UWM loss on a lack of season-long enthusiasm from their students.
