Renardo Sidney's 1.5 year odyssey ends tonight when he takes the court for Mississippi State in a game against Belhaven College in Jackson, MS.
He looks like an over-weight, out-of-shape lump to me, but he says that no one in the country (or world) can stop him when gets the ball down low. Wow. At least this ordeal taught him some humility. :)

OMG, don't get any MSU people started on how the NCAA treated Sidney vs how they treated Cam. Bad dads on both sides. No way Renardo knew that what his greedy dad was doing was wrong or could jeopardize his college career.
Having said that, it was right to punish Renardo for what his dad did, and the NCAA should have equally punished Cam by reinstating him with some form of suspension that mirrored the Sidney punishment.
Now, the NCAA is going to set up the "Cam Rule" to punish people the same way that everyone not named Cam Newton has been punished in the past when they had rogue family members soliciting pay for play.

My guess is Sidney doesn't know his game too well. He has always been more of a high post/iso guy. He has a body and game similar to Yancy Gates, so he'll frustrate people by taking 10 to 12 foot fadeaways and spot up jumpers. The problem is people look at a guy who is monstrous and expect him to dominate down low, when the reality is they are much better suited in the mid range.
Granted Sidney does have the game to dominate on the low block, unlike the aforementioned Gates, but as is the case with guys his size any and all hacking done to him by smaller players (i.e. everyone else on the court) is considered incidental contact.

Fatso had to leave the game twice for cramps. He is definitely not in the kind of shape needed to play college basketball. He had 10 points and 6 rebounds in 15 minutes of action against an NAIA team. He drew double and triple teams when he got the ball down low, so his stats can be excused, but how on earth can you be out of shape in December?

I saw a picture of him yesterday for the first time in awhile. He is like a black Val Kilmer with the way he has gotten so fat.

Makes me wonder why Martin is a "partial" qualifier still. If you get a 3.0-4.0 whatever after one semester of COLLEGE, why be worried about a too similiar core course in HIGH SCHOOL. He has or will have soon have COLLEGE CREDITS. Dumb rules piss me off. Why penalize him a whole yr. when he has a half yr. of COLLEGE under his belt already. Duh.

I think Martin could play in the second semester, but he'd lose a whole season of eligibility. Am I wrong about that?

After scoring 19 pts in 19 minutes, Sidney decides he has perfected basketball and decides to take up boxing. What's next for this multi-talented kid? My guess is pro-basketball in China.

Fighting a teammate in the stands is awesome. Are the Tennessee Titans going to be holding tryouts anytime soon? They could use another teammate to fight with.

I wonder if Bob Uecker was calling the fight like in the movie Major League. "Hayes swings and misses. I don't know Monte, it looks like Vaughn is carrying his left a little low. This could hurt him in the later rounds".
