And still got a 6 seed. I found it very unusual. Their seeding should have been switched w/ richmond last year. X, admit it or not, is the selection committee's sweetheart, just as ND and Gone-zaga are the media's sweethearts. I can't help but think what Xavier would be ranked had they beaten ODU. It is really upsetting how ODU has beaten 2 of the A10's best teams. It's a fact that the A10 is better than the CAA. I think as long as X goes 3-2 in its next 5 games, preferably 4-1, but more likely 2-3 than 4-1, they are in good shape for another tourny spot, assuming they don't win the A10 outright. This season has been so frustrating for the A10, with X Temple and Richmond doing essentially what they did last year after sustaining some losses, but...the lack of competition from the rest of the A10 is just very discouraging. If 2, or even 1! OTHER team was in the discussion other than Temple, X, or Richmond, the A10 could make a statement early in the season. 2 CENTS FOR FREE (as eminem would say when he could still rap)-La Salle of 2010 is pretty much like South Carolina of 2006, good as hell, yet won't make the tournament, but will still manage to be a quality win for anyone who beat them.

Look at X last year vs RPI top 50, top 100. Look at the last 10 games. X does a lot of right things to set up a high seed. Those are the numbers they use. I don't even think Vs. the tourney field is considered.
X was seeded a 6, they exceeded their seed line. The year before they met their seed line. The year before that they exceeded it. The year before that they exceeded it. Xavier never burns them and leaves the media touting how they were overseeded. The committee knows X isn't going to go out in March and get run off the court. In their last 12 NCAA games they won 8, lost 2 in OT. Led in the last minute of another loss that was a Derrick Brown big toe of winning. Xavier has turned into a money team in March, and an assured great product for the NCAA.

If you look at Xavier's overall combined tourney resume and their complete body of work last year, they absolutely should have been a 6 seed...The whole 2-6 record against tourney teams is just one aspect of their complete body of work...If you look at them on the S-Curve, they were absolutely seeded correctly...Xavier is not the NCAA sweetheart or whatever you called them, in fact, I think we get screwed on our seed a lot of times.

More recently X is getting favorable seeding. Not saying an unfair seeding but more similar to BCS teams. Temple for example should have gotten a better seed last year and Cornell was bent over by the committee. That use to happen to X but once X started getting there consistently and then started winning the committee began to treat them more favorably.
X's weak non conference schedule this year combined with A-10 teams losing winnable games is going to make it difficult for X to make the tourney this year. The scheduling wasn't bad because there are some big name teams but those teams are having down years. It works to X's advantage because of depth issues, etc as long as they can keep the W's coming. X is not ready to beat good teams but can beat mediocre teams and that is primarily what they have on the schedule.
