Any UVERSE subscribers in Indy have any issues watching X when they are on FSO or FSCN (basically does Uverse offer a sports package)? I'm thinking of switching.

Hey Muskie,
I'm a student at X right now but I'm from Indianapolis. We have UVerse, and when I'm at home watching games they are typically on FSNOhio...I think it's Channel 732 on standard definition. I know they offer some kind of sports package because we get the majority of the FSN channels, but they are usually just on 732.

This is exactly right.

Thank you. The UVERSE people insisted to me that it wasn't available. Thanks for clearing it up.

Yep. When they are the only Ohio team playing they are on 732 and 734. When the Blue Jackets or Cavs play they are only on 732. When all 3 play, they are on an alternate channel in the 690s.

We are SCREWED! Changes went into effect today moving all of the SD RSN's into the HD Premium package. FSN Ohio (both Cincy and Cleveland channels) do not have an HD feed on UVerse. All SD RSN's are now unavailable except to local channel subscribers. Therefore if you live anywhere outside of Ohio you will no longer get these channels unless or until UVerse gets FSN OH in HD.
Just a terrible decision and nobody at UVerse that I've talked to over the past hour and a half can give me any sort of an answer as to why this switch was made and why FSN OH is no longer available to the masses. Looks like it's time to go back to Directv.

So if you have the HD premium package you would be ok then?

No, that's just it. Doesn't matter what programming you get. You can add every package and option on the menu, if FSN CN is not the local channel for you, you cannot get it...

Let me know when you make the switch back to DirecTV. There's $100 for each of us if you let me refer you.

I emailed FSN OH to see what they had to say, here's my email with their reply. Out of luck until next season...
Hello, I have been a subscriber of AT&T Uverse for a while now and have enjoyed watching Xavier basketball games on FSN OH from the Chicago area. I've been informed that as of today FSN OH is no longer available for me as a UVerse subscriber due to changes in AT&T's programming. They have moved all of the RSN channels to an HD premium tier and SD feeds are no longer available to the masses and are only available in local markets. I have the HD premium tier, but since FSN OH does not have an HD feed on UVerse this removes it from my programming and I am no longer able to view the channel. This also appears to be the case for FSN AZ.
I'm curious if FSN OH plans to add an HD feed to AT&T Uverse so those of us not in the local market can continue to enjoy your programming without having to switch to Directv or another provider.
Thanks,
Brian
Their reply:
Hello Brian,
Thank you for your interest in Xavier basketball.
Unfortunately FS Ohio had no control over AT&T’s decision to move the out of market RSNs to this HD premium tier. FS Ohio does have plans to go 24/7 HD but not until the fall of 2011. If you choose to remain an AT&T customer, you should see FS Ohio HD added to this package by next year’s Xavier basketball season.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Jim

i almost switched to uverse, but didn't.
one of the things i liked about it was that it did not require you to sign a contract. so, with that in mind, i suggest cancelling it and going with another provider.

So does this mean that next year the Xavier games will be in HD like the Cavs, Reds, Blue Jackets, etc. Or am I just reading this wrong?

Shit. At least I have DirecTv at my office. I can bill if the game is on in the "background" right?

same here. i actually had an appointment date and time to have it installed, but upon calling to cancel directv got a good deal and decided to stay. i would be so pissed if i had switched, and i would already be in the process of switching back. so glad i didn't.
this isn't the first time uverse has abruptly dropped or altered it's lineup. until that stops, i will stay with directv.

my install is coming this afternoon for uverse...totally puts a damper on what was originally an exciting day. I'm not going back to Comcast so I guess I'll just stay with Uverse and hope for the best next year...still will be able to watch every Yankees game, so thats a plus.

Wow. I was actually thinking on my drive to work just this morning that I was going to switch.
They no longer have the March Madness package, and I ain't paying $300 to watch Mike Brown's boys suck ass, so there's no benefit to DirecTV.
But now, there ain't no way in hell.
So, do you think that means that starting in the fall of 2011, the XAVIER games will be in HD? It's about damn time. It's embarassing when I have a friend over to watch a game and he says, "What is this? 1993?"
This thread is yet another reminder of something that's been re-iterated many times on this board. If you are a big sports fan, and particularly a Xavier basketball fan, and don't want to go out to watch every game, DirecTV is the ONLY option for you.

we need to inflate this thread up to about a hundred posts, and email it to uverse.

I totally agree. Right now, the only thing keeping me with DTV was X basketball. Uverse is actually better in almost every other way. 4 lines/DVRed shows, DVRs all connected to each other, etc.
Uverse is really shooting themselves in the foot. And this HAS to affect more than just X fans. Surely fans of other college programs are in the same boat.

EDIT - Fixed by Saturday. I was on Uverse 400 with all the movies etc. on both houses. Uverse - Don't Screw with Xavier basketball

Same plan I've been on. I agree with what others have said as well, UVerse is superior to Directv in my opinion except for this major screw up...
Also, in regards to other programs this is affecting, UC is now on FSN CN so UC fans outside of local area are also affected... And does anyone know if Arizona games are on FSN AZ when not on nationally? This affects FSN AZ as well, we could also team up with the new Sean Miller Army in our hatred of UVerse.... (ducks)

Saturday night's game is on CBS College Sports, Channel 643 CBSCS on UVerse. So I checked and we will get X's game Saturday night. I am in Michigan and have UVerse 400, really like all of the perks. I chatted with an AT&T gal on-line, probably in India. She said that maybe we were just blacked out by the sporting event (like the Pro's do) (ha, ha, ha). I said no. I lost about 10 or more Fox channels from all over the country. I told her many of my friends are switching to DirectTV. She said she would report it. I also asked if we get a rate reduction if we are losing a block of channels. She said to talk to the billing department.
Anyway, not a happy situation.
