For all the crap, yep some from me, that we've been giving the A-10 so far, it's RPI ranking is now 7th, thanks a bunch to Xavier's and Temple's wins last night.
The Pac-10 is 9th. The cute little Zags conference is 17th. It's early for sure but not the disaster that one may have thought.

Basketball Prospectus on the MVC and other small conferences, and the perils of success, or perhaps, the difficulties in remaining successful:

Re: the original post, people are pretty much kidding themselves if they thing the WCC is anything other than Gonzaga, or occasionally Gonzaga and St. Mary's. They're kind of in a worse position that Xavier with respect to other conferences that they could play in.

the atlantic ten is collectively 19-4 since last saturday. we've gone from 49-40 to 68-44 on the year. that's always good for an rpi boost.

Can I officially retract, cancel, or otherwise make my original post disappear?
F-m beats St. Johns, which makes the victory by that school located in Olean, totally irrelevant. I now also retract my "nice win" statement as to that game. I now would classify it as an "embarrassing loss" if "That School in Olean" had not won.
Yesterday was a disaster on many levels. Derek Kellogg certainly is in a position to "run the league" after getting boatraced by a Hazell-less Seton Hall team. St. Louis embarrasses on National network TV. Rhodee loses to a school that begins with a Q and is known more for political polls than basketball polls. Of course, Alan Minor's 49ers lose by double digits to their local rival Davidson. The dump do what it do.
Who would have ever thought that F-m winning a game would be the (almost) highlight?
At least Richmond beat their in-city rival.
The league will probably drop to 31st in ranking after this weekend.

The league suffored a huge setback with all the losses but RI's loss wasn't a terrible loss. They should win that game but Quinnipiac is solid this year. What happend to UMASS? 3 straight losses after a great start. Charlotte, St Joe and GW are just killing the league. Everyone else is hit and miss with even Richmond and Temple lossing games that should have been won. Of course they both have big wins too. Fordham has been a pleasant surprise. Imagine what a good coach could do for some of the other A-10 teams that seem to have talent but just don't win games.
ODU is 3 - 0 against the A-10. I would have expected Richmond to beat them but guess not.

quinnipiac will most likely be favored to win the rest of their games. at the very least, they'd be favored to beat any remaining team on their schedule if they were to play them today.
having said that, so would about sixty other teams.
