So there is some hope for December 31. Florida apparently kind of sucks right now, too.

I did see that earlier. Also, did you realize that this post is the 5,100 post in the Men's Basketball category? Congrats.

florida is not a top 20 team, and ranking them #10 to start the year was way off, but i still think they're a solid tournament caliber team.

it may seem kinda strange to read this, but ucf is pretty good this year. i think they scheduled a little too weak because other than this game, there really aren't challenging themselves outside the conference (although they do play miami and umass). ucf's coach donnie jones is billy donovan's former assistant, and was at marshall last year when they won 24 games. winning 24 games at marshall is no small feat. it's kind of strange that he left marshall for another c-usa team that really wasn't any more established than marshall was, but i guess he wanted to get back to the state of florida.

ucf returned all five starters from last year as well, and play a three-guard, up-tempo game. i think they're better than xavier, so perhaps florida losing to them isn't as encouraging as it may appear.

I'm sure UCF is fine. But Florida also struggled like crazy at home with Morehead State among others.

This isn't to say that I'm guaranteeing a Xavier win. Just that based on the way Florida is playing that game is clearly not the lost cause it otherwise might have been.

Except for a few teams this year, doesn't it seem like there is more horrific starts on teams than ever?
