i'm kinda torn. i find dayton's FANS to be more annoying, but i find uc's PROGRAM to be more annoying. i guess the delimma is that uc's program, coaches, players, etc act's like ud's fans. with that in mind, i kinda have to favor dayton.

Taking UD +1.5 to the bank, so that will explain my rooting interest as well.

A few thoughts.

For the rpi, remember we play UD twice , and at least for mr I have more daily contact with uc fans than UD fans, which leads me to root for UD. Though a power outage or some other way to get a draw could be just as satisfying.

I was going to go to that game, but my priorities are in the right place: it's Conrad center and Muskies for me tonight.

Guesses on attendance and fan percentage breakdown. Take into account the game is not in either schools season ticket plan

Agree.

Dayton fans will out number UC fans 5-1

I am rooting for the refs and hoping its Bo Borowski, Joe DeMayo, and John Cahill

Can we add Ed Hightower as honorary fourth ref?

This is tough for me. I don't dislike UC so much as they are the fun rival. All my family and friends are UC fans, and most are not very obnoxious. UC fans as a whole can be obnoxious but no where near as bad as UD fans. I really dislike Dayton.

Dayton is the enemy, UC is the rival for me.

So in a vacuum I prefer UC, however I want the A-10 to win so I want UD to do better. Also, I took UD +2.

All in all I will root for Dayton tonight, but I like UC more than Dayton.

You're really not scraping the bottom of the barrel unless you get Teddy Valentine into the mix.

59-23 with 9:18 left in the 2nd. Outscored 17 to 4 in the 2nd so far. I'm not sure how I feel about this!

I'm dealing with it through laughter....and anticipation of a potentially epic appearance from Thor.

This was a dress rehearsal for UD's next appearance in Cincinnati.

UC might be pretty good this year.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves - this is UC we're talking about.

At least they drew just over 6,000 at USBarn tonight - apparently the Flyer Fanatics aren't as numerous as they would have you believe. It sure as hell wasn't 6,000 UC fans tonight.

You only have to worry about Boroski if Xavier is playing a MAC or Horizon opponent. Of course, 2 of those games are Miami and Butler...

BTW nice effort from Chris Wright. 1-9 from the floor with 4 points. Looks like the UD NBA drought will continue. Nice choice Chris choosing UD over X.

UC might be better than I thought, or UD is just worse than I thought. Either way I hope the result for our game against Dayton is similar.

Good thing I took Dayton and the 1.5 to the bank. I needed to make a withdrawal after that stinker of a bet. I hate Dayton.

So what is the biggest take away - that

1) Jimmy Carter is safe for another season at Cintas

-OR -

2) Things may not be pleasant in the glorified high school gym in early January

I doubt you can take much of anything away. Dayton always has a few games where they can't throw it in the ocean. They could play that game again tomorrow and Dayton might win by 20.

But they never fail to throw it in the stands.

16 Turnovers.

Just when I think I know something about basketball.....

I told guys at work to take Dayton and the points.

Boy do I look like a doufus. Hence, another reason to hate Dayton.

As far as Dayton goes, it would seem that we need to scheme a defense that blocks their driving lanes, forcing them to take jump shots. Isn't that what UC did to them, exposing UD for the poor outside shooting team it tends to be? If I were writing a script, I would love an outcome where we win by 10, having allowed Staten open shots all night in order to cover the driving lanes, with him going 1 for 15. I have nothing personal against the kid, it would simply be enjoyable because of how much pressure the delusional UD fans place on their vaunted freshman players from year to year.

UC will be loaded for bear for us this year. There's no way around that. Yet, as is usually the case in any contest, sporting or otherwise, it will be about who wants it the most, who plays intelligently (advantage Xavier), and who executes over a full 40 minutes.

UD has officially taken over for the school I dislike the most due to their delusional fan base. UC fans that I know have pretty much accepted the fact that their program is in a bad place right now and has been for some time. UD fans still think they are going to win the National Championship.

Well, I am hearing about the game from the UC fans today. Most of which are, admittedly, of the type that realize their team is in a bad spell, and want Cronin out of here on the next train to anywhere but Cincinnati. . I think it's good therapy for them that they get to feel good about their team every now and then, in the middle of what is it now 5 or 6 years of depression? When they gave me grief about our two OT games so far in this season, I told them I wanted to get the most for my money with my season tickets.

So long as they don't get that therapy on Jan 6 and 7...

Now we have to carry the pride of the A10 with us into 5/3rd arena on Jan 6. Thanks UD for putting the weight of representing the entrie A10 on our shoulders.

I actually think UC might be quite good this year. This season they've really played good defense, I watched the reply of the game today. Part of the reason for Dayton's poor shooting was they were not getting many good looks, and when they got a halfway decent look they were forcing the shots and rushing them because UC's guys were closing in.

With all that said, I think part of the reason UC's offense looked so good in the first half was Yancy Gates being on the bench with foul trouble. Now, I am a Yancy fan, an apologist as some have put, but UC wasn't trying to force it to him, or force his hand which really allowed them to open things up.

Overall this UC is much less talented than the one they had last season but they also don't have the mental or effort lapses that plagued them last season.

UC may be better but to me they have not looked all that good prior to the UD game. UD may be very bad, who knows? Dayton nearly lost to a brutal Savannah St. team and struggled with a Florida A&M team that lost to a bad Alabama team by 50 points. UC and Mick will be judged by what they do in February and March like everyone else.

History will tell UC fans to be very cautious. Mich has a stellar record in November but tanks after January as we all know. Mick's has won 82% of his games in November since he has been in Clifton going 23-5.
