I think this belongs in the A-10 Sucks Again thread.

Definitely a disappointing start but you have to expect this given the issues at SLU, Charlotte and a few teams rebuilding/stuck in the cellar. Richmond and Temple are legit, UD and RI are solid with a few others that haven't been tested.

I know UMASS doesn't play anybody out of conference this year, but lets keep an eye on them this year.

Interesting how Xavier's worst RPI opponents are from the Big Six. The other opponents are scoring pretty damn good RPI wise. It's early but still.

FWIW, currently the A-10 is 9th according to Ken Pomeroy's rankings, behind all of the Big 6, and then the Mountain West (by a lot) and C-USA (by not a whole lot):

What the hell has happened to Saint Louis?

Nice to see Dayton pulling a good RPI.

What the hell has happened to Saint Louis?

Kwamain Mitchell and Willie Reed's dicks happened to them.

(In case you missed it, both players were suspended by the school after an investigation into sexual assault -- Reed decided to leave the school entirely, Mitchell will return for the second semester)

Updated.

The only dog on the schedule so far is Iowa. Everyone has been pretty strong regardless of their name. :logo:

All things considered, I'm very happy at this point.

The A10's SOS is ranked 3rd. The A10's RPI is 7th. Not Bad.

Xavier is 6-2, RPI 30th, SOS 45th, and all things considered, that's pretty darn good. At this rate, over the course of a season they would be around 24-8, 23-7. I'll take it.

Also, Xavier fans shouldn't be upset with the loss to ODU. They are 8-2, RPI is 15th, and SOS is 11th. They seem to be the real deal.

Here are some other interesting facts. As of last night (12/20/2010) here are the following conference winning % vs other "Big 6" teams.

PAC10 - 0.333
A-10 - 0.432
SEC - 0.454
ACC - 0.469
B-12 - 0.484
B-10 - 0.500
BE - 0.657

These numbers may be misleading due to the number of (or lack of) other "Big 6" conference teams they have played. To give you a better breakdown the foloowing is the average number of "Big 6" schools each team has played by conference. (ie. in the ACC each team averages 4 ooc "Big 6" teams on their schedule)

ACC - 4
B-10 - 2.8
B-12 - 2.75
SEC - 2.75
A-10 - 2.64
Pac10 - 2.4
BE - 2.1

Another look is the number of true away games played by each school in each conference. Below again is the average number of games played by each school by conference (ie. Big 10 schools average 1.8 road games).

A-10 - 2.56
ACC - 2
PAC10 - 2
B-10 - 1.8
SEC - 1.416
B-12 - 1.333
BE - 1.25

Conclusions to be made are that the A-10 does not have the best record vs "Big 6" opponents but they are willing to schedule them and they are very willing to go on the road. Meanwhile the Big East has with the best record vs other "Big 6" teams isn't willing to schedule them and is certainly not willing to go on the road. Another surprising stat is the Pac-10. They have a terrible winning percentage against other "Big 6" teams and haven't really played many of them either yet are ranked high in the RPI.
