2 ACC teams have gone down to Atlantic Sun teams thus far this season. Stetson took down Wake and Kennesaw beat Georgia Tech.
There seems to be less talent separation between power conferences and everyone else this year. This has been the trend for several years, though you might not realize it given the number of tourney bids given to these other conferences.
I predict non BCS conferences will have great success this year in the tourney. Not sure if one of them will make the championship this year but several will have deep runs. Temple, Gonzaga, Richmond, and a MWC team or two will lead the way. Several others will make their impact felt as well.
Definitely early for these predictions but several of these teams are returning most of their talent after having great seasons last year.

A little early for that. The bottom teams in some of the power leagues suck, but that's not new this year.

Paul Hewitt is a terrible coach. The guy has had a ton of talent and rarely does anything with it. I can't imagine what this board would be like if we lost a game to a team like Kennesaw St.

What if we lost to Bellarmine?

What if we lost to Bellarmine?
That didn't count.

seriously though, those big 6 schools want the easiest OOC possible. If they can't even beat these schools - who the heck are they going to play?

They did make the title game in 2004, though. Even Bobby Cremins was hit and miss as far as tournament success at Georgia Tech goes. Beyond those 2 guys, Georgia Tech was a basketball wasteland.

Anybody who can manage to not dominate with Derrick Favors and Gani Lawal....yeah.
I have a feeling Wake and Ga. Tech are going to be pretty bad this year.

It is not just those teams as Providence beat Yale by only 3 and South Florida faired the same against St Francis and lost to Southern Miss. Sure they are also bottom dwellers of the power conferences but not exactly mid majors they are playing. UC Santa Barbara lost to Oregon by 2.
St. Marys beat St Johns which is a big east bottom dweller vs a mid major. Iowa lost to South Dakota St. Auburn went down to UNC-Ashville.
Obviously these things happen every year but there seem to be more power conference teams struggling against or losing to schools that are not typically near the top of their conference. The Temple win over Seton Hall or Memphis over Miami (FL) are expected. ODU giving Georgetown a difficult game or Wofford giving Clemson a challenge are also expected. Losing or almost losing to traditionally bad teams is typically rare. Sure most power conference schools won these games but the percentage seems high thus far. We will see what happens when ODU, VCU, Murray St, Cleveland St, Kent St, Robert Morris, the A-10, C-USA, MWC and others get shots at the power conferences.

Go, were those all within the first week of play?

Considering 3 teams accounted for a lot of those I'll assume the answer to my question is no. Sure there are BCS conference teams losing to "mid/low majors" each year and especially the teams going through a down year but this year appears to be more wide spread. Maybe not but that is the feel I'm getting thus far.

Those weren't all in the first week of play, but there haven't been nearly that many "upsets" yet this year yet either.
And there are some others from last year that are on the borderline of making that list. I just haven't seen anything so far that has made this season stand out from any other.
