It was an awesome display.
First half, Special was moving like mad, Mossy was hitting everything. Phillips and Harris were as billed. Rutan on fire from the arc.
But what was most impressive was the defense, they out defended a Dawn Staley defense.
Well done!
Second half, Phillips and Harris did whatever they wanted to do.

Was alos impressed with the bench, Askew, Holmes and Gray I think got the most time, and there was not much of a drop off.

Anyways, great game by the ladies tonight to start the season. It was a total performance and that was even with many players in foul trouble. The refs really liked their whistles today. Super impressed with Phillips, Moss, Harris, and Special. Great numbers put up by all the girls....

ps. If you have Direct TV at midnight tonight they are showing the game again on channel 646 (FSS). I'm sure many of you were at the men's game so if you didn't get to watch it online you may be able to stay up late and catch it.

Looking at the box score, we had a great game offensively. Very little to complain about in any category. Maybe the number of turnovers were a bit high, but it's really marginal. I know the South Carolina is without a couple of players they expected to have this year, but this was a really good showing against a Dawn Staley defense.

I don't think our defense was as good as Coach McGuff would have liked (and he sort of said this in the post game interview), and on most days we'll have to give up a lot less than 64 points to be where we need to be. The rebounding wasn't good. Outside of Amber and Ta'Shia, there really wasn't much at all. While the bench scored 14 points, they also committed 12 fouls. Megan had 5 fouls in 7 minutes. She'll need to be a lot better than that if we want to have a good bench this year, as she's really the lone person that has experience.

Good 1st game on the road, but we'll need to get a lot better if we want to beat the Duke's and Stanford's on our schedule.

If you don't like women's basketball then don't go to the women's basketball forum. Seems easy enough. There are a lot of members of this board that happen to enjoy watching all Xavier teams especially one that is playing at the outstanding level that our women's basketball team is playing at.
