Saw that a few days ago and completely agreed with it, not in that I felt that way going in but that I saw too many people who did. I knew I was going into a miserable field, I just like the abuse. Label me a sexist but I think its appropriate that a woman was the naive one in the video. It seemed more women than men had that attitude about being a lawyer.

Hilarious....and I agree with all of it. When someone tells me they or their son/daughter are going to law school, I always respond the same way..."why on earth would they want to do that?"

I am convinced law school is one of the biggest scams in our country. Three years and hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt and it doesn't teach you how to become a practicing attorney....about the only thing I learned in law school was how to write an appellate brief, which I rarely ever do anyway. You could skip law school, take the BarBri training course and if you're intelligent, you'd pass the bar.

I always ask one of my partners, "can you see yourself still doing this 20 years from now?" The response is always the same...a completely disgusted and defeated nod in the negative.

Awesome video!

I'm currently in my second year and I still see people like this, who are convinced they will be arguing Constitutional issues in the Supreme Court.

I agree with you Nigel. While I've learned some good stuff in law school it been self taught for the most parts. Most of my professors just spew out hypotheticals without really teaching any legal rules or principles. It's up to us as students to really apply ourselves if we really want to learn the "law."

For the most part, law school has been a $100,000 networking seminar. Just trying to meet people and hope they remember me when I'm groveling at their feet for a job. Worst part is, I'm concentrating on criminal law. :p

The best chance you have of learning how to practice while in law school is by signing up for as many internships as possible. If you are going into criminal law, intern with a local prosecutor's office. You'll get credit hours and actually learn some things. You'll also likely end up trying a small traffic case or minor misdemeanor case...the best type of experience you can get for the field you'll be entering. Also, when you start practicing, don't be afraid to call an experienced attorney and ask for help....most will be happy to help....I learned a ton from an experienced attorney I practiced against quite a bit. He screwed me a couple of times on cases we had together, but I learned from it. He also was more than happy to help me on other cases that he wasn't involved in.

I think this is based off of a video about the day in the life of an investment banking analyst, which is also required viewing for anyone who wants to go into i-banking.
