Per CCT.......
Circumstantial Evidence:
Numbers Projections for CCT's All-Conference Teams and other Notables
Tu Holloway
- Holloway was a solid distributor last season, averaging 12.1 points and 3.9 assists per game. Yet, with the departure of Jordan Crawford, Holloway will be asked to create a shot for himself a half dozen times per contest. Holloway will also contend for the most free throw attempts amongst guards in the A-10, likely getting to the stripe five to eight times per game—a significant part of the Xavier attack in recent years (and a big reason for Xavier’s struggles against fellow league power Temple). All of it will likely lead to Holloway boosting his scoring average to something a shade or two below Crawford’s 20 points per game from last season.
Jamel McLean
- McLean’s main bugaboo in his first two seasons at Cintas Center since transferring from Tulsa has been consistency. There will be moments—on a fast break or an odd rebound—where he will flash the 40-inch vertical leap and middle-linebacker frame to make onlookers chuckle with delight. Then there will be five-game stretches where he disappears. As a senior captain in an inexperienced Xavier frontcourt, McLean will likely earn around 30 minutes of burn, and see nine field goal attempts and four-six free throws per game. His numbers will largely depend on how much he can improve his 61.4 percent free throw shooting, and how hard his motor runs to track down rebounds. Still, 12 points and nine rebounds is not outside the realm of possibility for McLean.
