No real surprise here - the logistics (at least for 2011) would have made it difficult for other sites to host the "First 4" for the coming season. You also have to love the NCAA calling this the 1st round and the subsequent rounds as the "2nd and 3rd rounds." Even though 2 of these games will at least garner the casual fan's interest (namely the last 4 at-large teams), the order of those games will be decided when the bracket is released. TruTV (formerly CourtTV) will televise the play-in games Tuesday and Wednesday and the Field of 64 will commence on Thursday as normal.

I guess that means Dayton has a reason to continue to exist. Well, they can celebrate that I guess

There's nothing in there that says they can't host a game, but I would count on the Selection Committee bumping up UD's seed if that were the case. I would not expect a bubble team to be put at a competitive disadvantage by playing the Flyers if the committee could avoid it.

I'm not a fan of how this ended up as I'd much prefer to give the last 4 seeds a shot at beating the last 4 in. The question then becomes whether you bump the winner to the 16 seed or the 9 seed. Either would be fine with me but I'd like to see the small conferences get a chance at beating the power conferences rather than beating one another and then losing to the 1 seeds.
It seems the committee is still afraid to give the non BCS teams a shot at the BCS teams in round 1. The only place this seems to happen consistently is for the 1, 2 and usually 3 seeds (when not occupied by a "mid major"). Last year was terrible in how the match-ups were arranged. Cornell vs Temple was a disgrace as both of those teams should have advanced past round 1. Same could be said of Richmond and St Mary's. It is possible the BCS schools would prove their dominance if matched against the "mid majors" but I personally would like those schools to have the opportunity to disprove this dominance.

Why not at UD?
Nothing to do in Dayton anyway.
