Who ranks 6th graders? There's a big difference of being a basketball player and doing some drills. It would be easier to judge him if there was footage of him against some competition. For all we know, this kid might not ever grow.

Cheese I was thinking the same thing. Apparently there was an AAU tourneyment for his age group(as well as all the other age groups) and they based it on that showing. Obviously not a large representation on kids at his age level, but since they scouts are there, they might as well do something.

Well, I keep hearing stuff like this and it amuses me. My son plays AAU and I never heard of players being ranked and his team is good (they went 43-7 this past Spring), winning 4 tournaments but I'm really not expecting any of them to be D-1 players.

This kid has some skills but that's doesn't necessarily mean he will be a good basketball player. My boy got invited to a camp in Columbus and they are going to rank players and supposedly they have D-1 coaches there watching. I'm trying to figure out if it's for real or just a money-making thing.

I heard a dead serious comment from a parent at a pony football game this weekend..."He's the best 4th grader in the country"

Hilarious...but sad too.

I seriously guarantee I know who you are talking about. The dad is insane.

I seriously guarantee I know who you are talking about. The dad is insane.

Would said dad sit in the stands with binoculars and yell at the team that their "splits" are off? And would said dad call the coach from the stands to tell him their splits are off?

And would said dad not even be the dad of the kid he thinks is the best 4th grader in the country?

And would the real dad of the "best 4th grader in the country" be nicknamed TWA of Xavier lore?

Granted...TWA's little man was by far the best player on the field...by far. But why would a grown man make a comment like that...and act like that...in all seriousness?

FYI....TWA and family never said a word the whole game...they just watched with pride.

This reminds me a little bit of gymnastics and how those kids get picked very early for greatness. In that context, which is athletics, it's really not unsurprising or unwarranted there is a #1 6th grader.
