Another Lexus breakdown in the desert.

I told you, Lexus cars are not as reliable as Buicks. You don't see many Lexus models make it for more than a few years; but we still see plenty of Buicks from the 70s. Maybe that was what the metaphor was all about to begin with. I'm going from a reliable program to one that looks shiny on the outside, but will fall apart under the hood in a couple years.

And supposedly the owner of Goazcats.com was involved. Anybody know the full story behind it?

Next time you do ANYTHING wrong, use this excuse:

"The school noted in its report that the coach was dealing with a number of health issues at the time and it was later revealed by his physician and family that he had suffered a stroke that affected his decision-making abilities."

Maybe this is why Huggs ended up on that coffee table in LV.

Low class Arizona...low class.

Goodman's take....

ARIZONA'S RESTRICTIONS NEARLY IRRELEVANT

None of it really matters.

Life will go on for Arizona's second-year coach Sean Miller and his staff.

Sure, Miller will have recruiting restrictions – whether it be the number of days he and his staff will be out on the road, the amount of official visits they can host in Tucson and even the amount of scholarships the Wildcats will be allowed over the next couple of years.

And those 19 wins back from the 2007-08 season.

They are wiped off the books.

Who cares?

None of this, which stems from Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson and his dealings with a local on-campus AAU tournament – the Cactus Classic – organized by an Arizona alum, will have any impact going forward.

Miller's success – or lack thereof – won't be determined by all or any of this.

The lack of a scholarship for the next two years won't help matters, but there are plenty of high-level Division I programs that make due with fewer than the 13 allotted by the NCAA.

These days, fewer and fewer kids ever get to the point of taking official visits, anyway, so having the total cut in half from 12 isn't critical.

Losing 30 recruiting days this season may hurt more than anything else, but again, it won't be the ultimate factor in whether Arizona gets back to the Arizona of old.

What matters most is that Arizona wasn't hit with any postseason sanctions or given any television limitations.

And as far as Olson's legacy is concerned, this won't matter, either.

Olson's legacy will be – foremost – how he built a power in Tucson with some regard to the uncertainty in which his career concluded amid serious health issues.

But the Cactus Classic?

It's already in the rear-view mirror.

That article was unnecessary, and therefore irrelevent.

Yeah the NCAA increased the punishment which was really not neccesary, but it is what it is with those guys. Lute did have a stroke though and did do some things he wouldn't normally have done for sure. It wasn't diagnosed right away either and it happened before the incident. He called a recruit by the wrong name during that timeframe. It was Emanuelle Negedu and he called him Muhammed. In almost 3 decades at Arizona, this was his only hiccup. He's a very honest man and just a great guy. No doubt in my mind whatsoever he wouldn't have made that mistake in a healthy state. It doesn't keep it from being an infraction and we were overpunished for it, so justice has been done.

A couple players were found ineligible by the NCAA so all the wins for that season and the NCAA tournament birth were taken away to add to the recruiting restrictions and loss of a scholarship for two seasons. Lute was definately ill and did have a stroke which no doubt effected his judgement so they noted that when the NCAA investigated the infraction.

I do agree here waggy, there was no good reason to write that article and make it sound like nobody gives a damn about the punishment. I know all of us care, but there is just nothing we can do about it. Thankfully Sean and the staff has done such a great job so far with 2011 and 2012 they already have their list narrowed down to which players they will recruit the hardest and not have to use too much time evaluating others. Still handcuffs the staff and hurts our program without a doubt. The punishment is definately not irrelevent. Not crippling either.
