You noticed they didn't even mention WHAT tournament they made his Sr. year, just "made the tournament". I can't believe someone took the time to write a wiki article about Jimi Bennie.

Sounds like a perfect first event of the Jimmy Binnie Society. We need to go and "correct" this wikipedia page.
Binnie was a part of a recruiting class many were calling the fab five

This is the best thing that has ever happened.
Couple highlights:
"Binnie is best known for a high free throw shooting percentage"
"There was also an unfortunate incident during Binnie's career when a disrespectful arragant fan base decided to nick name him 'the traffic cone'. That unfortunate and unsportsmanlike act was actually led by Xavier University media personnel"
"After several years of struggling as a team, Binnine finally got over the hump his Senior year when the Flyers were invited to the NIT tournament again. This time Binnie's career would become fulfilled as the Flyers lost to Ohio St."
and the best:
"After the NIT Binnie began to prepare for the next level of basketball, however, he was left out of the NBA draft, likely having his stock damaged due to several injuries he sustained while playing for the Flyers."

Upon further reading...this is probably a hilarious joke written by a Xavier fan. I mean, this person captured the essence of Dayton Flyers fans in 1000 words or less!
I mean come on, "nearly .1 blocks per game"! Nearly .1 blocks!!! I have nearly .1 blocks in my college basketball career despite never playing!

maybe we could counter this with our own article about Xavier great Reggie Butler, or some other relatively unknown play. Maybe an Alvin Brown. LMAO

Sorry guys, I had to move it. The likes of that has been/never was should never sully the mens basketball forum.
Also, some of that "information" actually pissed me off.
I HATE dayton.

Sorry PM, I was so excited when I read that I just posted it ASAP. Does this really qualify as 'Smack' though. seems more like off topic to me.

Read it soon because it is being considered for deletion. But it is hilarious. While it would seem to have been written by a Muskie fan because of the obvious "tongue-in-chhek" comments, I have a sneaking suspicion that a Flyer fan wrote it because of the crack about the Xavier media. But whoever it was, he or she needs a course in basic writing skills. It would get an "F" as a composition even in an elementary school class.

Who's going to write one about Kurt Huelsman?
We owe him a tribute

If you go to Wikipedia history on the article, it was nominated for deletion because of a "biography of a non-notable athlete. Fails WP ATHLETE#Basketball, since the subject has not played on a fully professional level. Delete, minor-league basketball player with no notable college achievements."
Sorry folks, in the eyes of Wikipedia, standing around as a "Traffic Cone" does not constitute a notable college achievement. Don't look for a page on Kurt Huelsman (or, for that matter, any Dayton Flyer since Negele Knight) anytime soon to stand the test of time.

i've only read the first sentence and i'm already laughing.
Binnie was a star high school player who recieved major scholarship offers but chose Dayton a program filled with college basketball success. (^ Collett, R. (1989). The Dayton Flyers: A history of UD basketball. Dayton: Landfall Press.)
he actually offered a citation for that statement, which is funny in and of itself, but to make it even funnier was WHAT he cited.
awesome.

Don't feel too bad for Kurt. He is slated to star as the next Indiana Jones
