New NCAA Hoops Tourney Chair

UCONNs AD will replace Gene Smith beginning with the 2012 tourney. He was indeed the AD under whose watch UCONN committed numerous major recruiting violations. Makes sense to reward him. Why not just give it to USCs AD.

Isn't there some kind of clause that ensures that the head of the Selection Committee is always associated with one of the BCS conferences?

More appropriately, how is Mike Garrett still even employed by USC? Does lack of institutional control not constitute just cause? After all, we're supposed to believe Pete Carroll when he says that the Reggie Bush fiasco was not his responsibility.
