I need some advice from the women of Xavierhoops.com. I am attending a friends wedding tomorrow and I am contemplating what to wear. Part of me says play it safe, navy suit, white shirt, navy and silver tie, with black shoes. The other part of me wants to be a bit for daring and fun. I had thought of pulling out my seersucker blazer, navy slacks, white shirt and a pink and blue tie (either straight or bow). Pairing that with either brown shoes and or bucks.
Any thoughts? Would I look like a total jack ass in Seersucker?

I'll chime in first. I would wear whatever you feel most comfortable in, and I would take in to account where the wedding is. An outdoor, less formal event would make the seersucker blazer slightly more appropriate and less hot. But, I don't think there is anything sexier than a man in a nice suit, so my first inclination is to go with the suit. All I will say is my DH loves when he has to wear a suit ;)
In addition, the seersucker blazer with the pink tie outfit sounds like something Andy from The Office would wear, so . . . I guess what I'm saying is that if I was a single gal at this wedding I'd be more likely to go for you in the suit than the blazer. The other ladies may feel differently.

Yes.
And I think in 2010, it is safe to ditch the bucks as footwear.

Pablo rocked the seersucker suit at Spring Fling, but that's not a wedding, and it was Pablo.
And he still looked like a jackass.
I understand his on-base percentage in that seersucker suit was very high.

I guess I am still in Keenland/Derby Mode. I am 29 (30 soon) and only break it out for stuff like that.

The wedding is in Indy, starts at 5pm. I am not sure if it is outside or in a Church. I have tried to find out what the single gals will be like, no word. If I knew there would be a surpluss or a lack that could help.

Then I would go traditional route and wear the suit. DH and I are both 31, and I know he'd be wearing a suit.
If you do decide to go with the seersucker though, don't do a bow tie. I've yet to meet a woman who likes a bow tie unless you're wearing a tux, and even then a straight tie can be better. Of all of my friends' weddings, only one had the guys in bow ties instead of straight ties with the tuxedos.
Have fun!!!

Memorable quote from movie....
Sophie's Choice....
Sophie:
"Stingo, you look... you look very nice, you're wearing your cocksucker."
Stingo:
"That's my "seersucker."

I think I will go with the suit, keep it simple. I may take both and make it a game time decision. I have a friend getting married in Birmingham in the summer, maybe I will save the seersucker for that

KK: You were right. Brian would do anything to help his on base percentage - especially since he had a ton of strike outs with the hotties. Batted a 1000 with the morbidly obese though.

The last time I went to a wedding in Indy it was in a church with no AC. You could barely hear what was going on over the crackle of everyone fanning themselves with the programs, except for the thud when the grooms brother passed out from the heat.
Wear as little as possible without making your presence a distraction.

I agree with LadyMuskie on this. I like nothing better to see a guy in a nice suit. When I see a guy with something a little off the wall, I think, that's the reason they are single. You don't want to send that impression before they have a chance to meet you. After they meet you, they can think that.

I think you need to go retro and wear a white liesure suit ala John Travolta and break out the "Stayin Alive" dancing...chics will dig it.....

It was a good time. It was outdoors, which i did not know an dhot as crap. Seeing as there was only a handfull of people under 40 at the wedding and I knew most going in I might as well of wore seersucker and not been sweating my butt off. Needless to say since there was limited ladies and I was celebrating my big 3-0 I got shitfaced beyodn beleif and pass out with some White Castles in the hotel lobby with my friends.

Classic, my friend. I gave ya reps just for the laugh.
My sister's wedding is coming up in a couple of months, we're having it at the CIC on Catawba. Cannot wait. My parents informed me it's an open bar, and since she's marrying a Cowboys fan... well, looks like I'll be taking advantage of it!
None of you are invited, by the way. We're trying to keep things classy!
Exception: any of you crazy SOB's that showed up to Mulligan's for the tourny game. I feel like a nice rendition of "Bag of Dicks!" throughout the service would be wonderful! :D

If Xpectations will drive me again, we are there dude. Open bar, the islands in Lake Erie, sounds to me like a great place to bring Brittney for our first date.
Make sure your sister sends my invite to Mr. Nuts on Back of Dicks Road, Flagship Ohio.

Reps to you, you crazy son of a bitch.:D

Gack!! Only a brother can get away with that kinda trashtalk. I prefer to think that he is laughing, but you're sure he's not made friends with the guy with the thunderbolts, right?

Well, if nothing else - Happy 30th Birthday. Sorry that the suit didn't work to your advantage. There's always next time :)

While I may not be the world's most interesting man, I know how to tie a tie, have a passport, and since I was a move in I may be the Westside's most interesting man

Very well may be. The bar isn't very high on the west side to begin with.
However, Gladdenguy and drudy may beg to differ.

Woah! What's with the putting down of the westside here? ;) We're practically neighbors and I tried to help with the suit issue. Although, come to think of it, I married a guy who wasn't a westsider, so maybe you have a point . . .

Thank you for the advice. I have noticed a lot of people on the westside are not fans of shirts when they go outside in the summer.
I usually pay my neighbors son to pull weeds or mow my grass when I am out of town, his borther who is a year older is now trying to outbid him for the job. It is comical.
