I can't believe that a school, and particularly a Catholic school, wouldn't release a recruit. Nice values they're showing at DePaul.

Incredible.
I think I would drive to Cincinnati and spray paint "FRAUD" on the side of the Cintas if Xavier ever did anything like this.

Well, DePaul is Jesuit, so its "Catholic" character must be qualified with quotation marks.

I know I'd sure want a player who doesn't want to be there!

Roach: almost shocked here by your post as DePaul is certainly not a Jesuit institution

Joe, you are correct. Perhaps Roach was thinking of the Blue Demons' Chicagoland neighbor, Loyola, a Jesuit university in every way except in its lack of excellence on the hardwood for the last 55+ years.

You are correct, but in 1963 (I think that was the year), Loyola beat UC in OT for the NCAA championship. So, 47+ years.

I heard the kid is enrolling in prep school thus voiding the commitment.

Living here in Chicago, Purnell has done a good job so far. He has built a strong relationship in a short period of time with Nick Irvin, probably the most powerful AAU coach in the city, as well as Robert Smith the head coach at Simeon HS, the time team in the public league. This was a bad move on the school's part, but based on some rumors I've heard the school will be happy to have this scholarship to use on someone else much better.
