The only thing surprising here is that the NCAA actually made public allegations. UConn's response comes across as little more than lipservice. I think Calhoun should give back every penny...

Here is what will happen. UCONN will get a slap on the wrist. Maybe forfeit a couple of games, lose a scholarship maybe a paid vacation for Calhoun. An assistant coach or two will take the fall (see John Loyer) and Calhoun will act like he knew nothing of it. Calhoun will continue to see the 5 year $15 million contract he signed last week and UCONN will keep cheating and keep on rolling. Meanwhile Prairie View will be banned for the post season for buying a track player breakfast.

You can also see what is going on at Kansas (wow) and nothing will happen there either. How slimy is that fiasco? They have two guys (the Pump and run brothers) who made millions scalping tickets, running an AAU program, funneling players to Kansas, running coaching searches and getting Kansas athletic department to give them NCAA tickets and final 4 tickets so they can then sell to the public and make huge profits. Why? because the Pump brothers are as connected to the AAU scene as it gets. It is them and World Wide Wes. The relationship Kansas has with the Pump brothers is as unethical as it gets, yet nothing will happen to Kansas either. NCAA basketball is like the mob when you are at the top.

And the issues, at least many of them, involved Nate Miles. There was a reason Xavier was happy to part ways with this kid.

A co-worker who is originally from Kansas told me a couple years ago that the KU program was dirty and that the Roy Williams years were covered in filth. I believed some of what he told me (didn't seem to have a reason to make up stuff about KU and some of the stuff he told me was supported by some stuff I found on the 'net), but I wasn't sure if it was as bad as he made it out to be. Well, maybe it was.

Not a dime back.

Still a classic line.

UConn has asked for and received a two-week extension on the deadline for providing its response to the NCAA's notice of allegations. The school originally had until Aug. 20 to deliver its report but now that has been extended to Sept. 3.

UConn officials are tentatively scheduled to appear before the NCAA's Committee on Infractions Oct. 15-16 in Indianapolis.

The NCAA has accused UConn of committing eight major violations, most of which stem from recruitment of Nate Miles.

They must be having some trouble on the lie construct front.

STORRS, Conn. (AP)—The NCAA is giving Connecticut another week to respond to allegations that the school’s basketball program committed eight major rules violations.

The university was expected to respond by Aug. 20, but that deadline was moved last month to Sept. 3 based on requests by the coaches cited in the allegations.

UConn said the date has now been set at Sept. 7.

Former assistants Beau Archibald and Patrick Sellers resigned amid accusations that they lied to investigators, who found hundreds of improper calls and texts from UConn staff to recruits.

Coach Jim Calhoun also is cited in the NCAA report for failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance.

The school says compliance officials will go over the document before it is released to the public to ensure it meets state privacy and Freedom of Information Act requirements.

The classic self-wrist slap - UConn put itself on 2 years probation and will lose a scholarship over that period of time. They're trying everything they can to not get Jim Calhoun in trouble. I don't know if the NCAA is going to go along with those sanctions or pile on.

As Jerry Tarkanian once said, "The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky that they put Cleveland State on probation for two years."
