I am taking my boys up to my nephew's high school graduation party in Columbus. I wanted to stop for Pizza on the way up tomorrow. Anyone know the best pizza place in Columbus. I would prefer one on the OSU campus but that is not required.

I am also looking for a nice day hike or park to take them.

whatever you do stay away from catfish biff's. Had it in my dorm years ago and still can't get that damn taste out of my mouth.

Can't say it was the best, but for every coach's clinic and the state basketball tournament...we always stopped at the Varsity Club on Lane Avenue for a large pepperoni and numerous beers.

Snipe - I hear that you met my daughter at a party a few weeks ago. She told me the story and started shaking her head about us Xavier fanatics!

Rubinos in Bexley is good. Here are some reviews:

I would second the Varsity Club. As Frambo said, maybe not the "best" pizza, but it is very good and the place is legendary. Also, it's right in the heart of campus.

Might have to hit one going and one coming back. I read the reviews of Rubinos and I got hungry for some old school pizza. I have to have it now. I think I will hit Varsity Club on the way back. Thank God my kids don't get sick of pizza. I am an addict.

I think I am going canoneing (sp?) on the Big Darby ~ Trapper Johns is the outfitters. Unless someone has a better canoe trip that looks like a good fit.

Thanks for the input. I can't wait to eat pizza.

My house. I use my grandmother's 80 year old recipe. I make a mean calzone too. Since that isn't available may I suggest Plank's. The Planks pizza crust is similar to a cracker crust and the sauce is has a sweet flavor to it, but it is good pizza. There is one on South High Street and one nearby on Parsons Avenue. You are less likely to encounter gunfire at the South High Street location. Also, I love Tommy's Pizza. It is thin crust, but very good. In fact, I'd rank Tommy's ahead of Planks. There is also Iaconno's which is pretty decent.

Have a safe trip.

Tommy's on Lane is delicious. If you venture out to the suburbs, you absolutely must get Masseys Pizza (a few locations around the city...I frequent Gahanna or Reynoldsburg).

Look at all of those delicious pepperonis:

Hilarious. This is the same guy that goes to Taste of Cincinnati and makes a beeline for the LaRosa's stand.

I went to MACs Pizza Pub and LaRosas this year at the Taste. Their was a place from Silverton and I almost got a slice from them too but I needed room for ice cream.

Since Vee didn't invite me over to his personal pizzeria, I ended up going to Rubinos in Bexley. I liked it, the kids had fun playing pinball but they weren't really impressed. I got a couple large pizzas and my nephew and his friends scarfed them up when we got to my sister's house.

I always get crap for getting LaRosas at Taste of Cincinnati but I get a slice every year. They make it with the pepperoni on top of the cheese, which is not the way they usually make it. Because of that I always order it that way when I get it from LaRosas.
