If you could put together the worst four coaches a coaching staff, you would they be?? Keep in mind, we are talking about poor coaching, poor recruiting and getting NCAA sanctions by the end of the first year. All coaches must have been Head Coaches on some point.
Head Coach Mick Cronin
Assoc HC Tony Yates
asst coach Jerry Tarkanian
asst coach Kelvin Sampson

Or you could put together an "All Scumbag" staff:
Head Coach: John Calipari
Asst Head Coach: Rick Patino
Asst Coach: Jim Calhoun
Asst Coach: Bob Huggins

Kevin O'Neill and Pat Kennedy have to be in there somewhere.
Oh, add Jan Van Bredda Kolff.

Head coach- Dale Brown
Asst- Tony Yates
Asst- Lou Henson
Asst- Pat Kennedy
Mgr- Mick Cronin
Honorable mention- Bill Frieder, Steve Lappas, Bobby Cremins, Lefty Driesell.
My list is based purely on coaching ability, because some of those guys could recruit but were terrible bench coaches (See Dale Brown).

87 your list is pretty harsh, well just two guys on the honorable mention.
Lefty has won almost 800 games.
And I really don't know why people think Steve Lavin is such a bad coach. The guy took UCLA to multiple Sweet 16's.

Wow! Multiple Sweet 16s with UCLA?!? Impressive.

Well yeah. 5 Sweet 16's in six years is impressive. Unless you are a Bruins fan who thinks they should win seven national titles in a row.
Or you think you can coach UCLA to consecutive sweet 16's, in which case, you should apply for the job after Howland produced his second losing season, one more then Lavin if you are keeping track.

Didn't Howland also take them to 3 or 4 consecutive Final Fours? That actually is impressive. Sweet 16s? Not so much.

It was three. Which is of course impressive.
Do you not think our back to back Sweet 16s are impressive? How many schools make more then three consecutive Sweet 16s at any given time?
I mean you are basically saying Steve Lavin is the same as Mick Cronin, which I find fascinating. I don't think Steve Lavin is great, but he certainly is no Mickey Mouse.

As for Lavin, I meant to put Steve Lappas, which I have now corrected.
As for Lefty, he was an excellent recruiter, but not a very good bench coach.

Yeah, but you're comparing Xavier to UCLA. In mid-March 2004, we'd been to one Sweet Sixteen total. In our history.

Okay, then you think they should win a national title every year.
We just have different expectations. Yours seem to be outrageously high.

I do? Seems like Howland hasn't done that, and I don't think he sucks.

Okay so six more wins basically separates Howland from Lavin.
It's just interesting to see people's opinions.

Tony Yates would top my list. The guy couldn't even cheat well.
Jim O'Brien would be my bench coach. He went from 20 wins to 20 losses in about 3 years. It absolutely amazes me that he may be the most successful college coach to make the jump to the pros, but he never should have been a college coach.
Nothing against UD, but Brian Gregory also makes my list.
Same with Matt Doherty.

I am sure I have missed some of the illustrious coaches of the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Hell, just list every Dookcane, F-m, and Olean Welding coach (before Schmidt) for the last 20 years.
While your at it, throw Derek Kellogg on the list as "Newcomer of the Year".

Scott Edgar was at least good at Murray State.

Ed Badger. He was so cool in his all chocolate brown leisure suit.
He named one of his offensive sets the "high, low, expand, contract, fast motion offense."
.
This is the best post I have read from LH in a long time.

OOOOOOh you sure got me. Did it take you all morning to think of that one?

Nope. All of 2 seconds.
You know I could just respond to your posts and say nothing and still get a response from you. This is becoming quite fun.
I would like to apologize to everyone for letting LH waste space on the board.

Nope. All of 2 seconds.
Unfortunately, it took you 10 seconds to think of this response.
More like a second. Another lie from 95.
