Strange, they left Dayton off the list. Must have been an oversight.

By player, I'm guessing:
Star: West
Solid: Hill, Strong, Grant
Role-player: Posey
Deep Bench: Torraye Braggs
Bust: Chalmers
DNP: Sato
I had to go through basketball-reference to find Braggs -- I forgot he was taken with the next to last pick.

Not sure what that means, but if I'm reading it correctly they came in tied with Duke at #1 with 28 draft picks over that 20-yr period, and #1 at 8 "Stars" over that period. Perhaps you are referring to the fact that they are also #1 with 7 "Busts over that same period. I guess it could be s a half-full/half-empty debate, but it's hard to argue against 28 draft picks over 20 years (nearly 1.5 per year).

It's hard to have a lot of picks, and have them all turn out well. The amount of success coming out of one program likely raises the profile of other players, leading to a higher % of busts.
Arizona, with lots of stars and lots of busts, looks better than UCLA, with comparable number of picks, and fewer stars and more deep bench players. You have to figure that "deep bench" is basically replacement level.
Louisville was pretty amusing for a rather successful program.

Who from UTEP is driving their high rating...am I missing someone(s) obvious?

I would say that Aaron Williams should be considered as a Solid NBA player as well.

How far does it go back? Tim Hardaway played at UTEP.
EDIT: Four paragraphs in: "UTEP gets second place thanks to Tim Hardaway (taken #14) and Antonio Davis (#45)."

The part below says UTEP's ranking is driven by Tim Hardaway and Antonio Davis (who was only a 2nd rounder).

Aaron Williams was undrafted, and signed a contract out of the CBA or D-League, or whatever it was at that point in time. The article looks at NBA draft picks.
The article points out that much of UTEP's high rating comes from Tim Hardaway, and also Antonio Davis. The college landscape was much different 15-20 years ago.

Posey early in his career was alot more than just a role player. He's been in the league a long time and has transitioned to a role over the last couple of year.

Gone-zaga,
almost at the bottom.
Again, why the national media slobbering?

Derek Strong was the one drafted, not Aaron Williams. You're probably right about putting Posey in the "Solid" category, and Derek Strong being the role-player.

i'm getting the sense that the national media is starting to cool a little on Gonzaga (and of course, the selection committee is never fooled).

Too bad Gonzaga's prize NBA player (John Stockton) was drafted in the mid-80s. That may as well be the Ice Age for bandwagon Gonzaga fans.

Rony Turiaf had a hole in his heart, and he's STILL had a better NBA career than Adam Morrison.

I think someone posted this same thing a while back.
Teams are obviously hurt by having tons of draft picks, as not all will be good.
It is nice to see though that a lot of XU's drafted players contribute in the NBA.

That's because Morrison has no heart.
